Front entry door

What are some good online options for purchasing a front entry door for our new build? Can I buy directly from the manufacturer or do I need to go through a distributor? The lumber yard that I'm buying most my material from gave my wife a magazine to look through but I figured she may have better luck and pricing online.

Have you looked at Simpson doors? That said, there are so many variables: style of architecture, exposure to the weather, stained or painted, glazing (in the door, side lights, transom, some or all of the above), security, accessibility, etc.

After you select your door, you have to select your hardware! Have you looked at Schlage?

This is too big a ticket item to buy online. It should be purchased from whomever is doing your windows. I have Marvin windows; when I got them, I had them replace the french doors in the DR - they're wonderful. I did keep my 68 yr old front and back doors - very solid wood and in keeping with the age of the house.
