Edible/medicinal wild plants

So I have an idea... I have looked around on here and have not seen this. How about a thread for us Okies with our cumulative Okie knowledge on the wild species that grow in Oklahoma? The info can be "used at your own risk" of course. I am thinking common plant name, pictures, is it edible or medicinal, nutrition or effects, and preparations. What do ya'll think?

I see an occasional reference from time to time in other posts, but have not seen an entire source in one thread.

I can start. I do not have a picture, but Canna's are edible. The young tender growing shoots in the spring are crunchy, snappy, full of water, and I suspect have some fiber. I have often wondered, since other cultures wrap food in banana leaves, if I could wrap food in Canna leaves to cook. I just don't want to ruin a pork shoulder trying! I have 4 kids now and would be a little put out if I wasted some pork.

DO NOT CONFUSE WITH CALLA. I have heard Calla is poisonous.
