Can a plant have too many seed pods?

My husband and I have a plumeria plant that a friend gave him and we love it. I'm not sure what kind of plumeria it is. I recently discovered on line that you can help these plants to self pollinate using a twirling tool. I tried it on my blooming plant and now I think I have about 10 seed pods forming. My question is does having so many seed pods on one plant affect the viability of the seeds it produces? Here are some photos of the plant and seed pods. I would love to know the name of thekind of plumeria I have also. Thanks!
