Vanity lights mounted on bathroom mirror
Comments (4)When I have seen lighting mounted in front of a large wall mirror, it has always been side sconces. I think that they look really nice done this way. We are discussing this very thing over on a different thread. Here is a [Link to that discussion.[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/best-master-bath-lighting-dsvw-vd~5177252) A quote from that thread on exactly what you are asking: "bossyvossy Who knew. The American Lighting Assn offers some guidelines. They are not written in stone but are useful and will be a starting point for me. For ex., sconces s/b mounted at eye level and s/b 26-30” apart for optimal illumination. above mirror light s/b about 80” from the floor. Recessed lighting does cast a shadow and s/b combined w/additional lights for optimal illumination. dimmers!!!" So, hop on over there and enjoy the discussion. There is a search bar at the top of the Bathroom Forum that will allow you to find out pretty much any time we have discussed Sconces or Lighting in the past 15 years or so....See MoreBathroom vanity mirrors; one or two and lighting
Comments (7)Thanks all or your input! I'm going with two. Two is what I originally thought but then fell in love with the PB Astor Double-Width Mirror (a 58" X 40 beveled mirror framed with beveled mitered pieces of mirror). It's the only large mirror that fit the idea I had in my head for how I pictured the space with "one large mirror", but it seems to have been discontinued on PB and there is no duplicate to be found (I even went to a glass store to see if they could make it and they cannot). So two mirrors it is. My base tile that was on backorder (giving me more time to work through all this) gets installed tomorrow so now I just have to figure out/order the lights....either overhead, or sconces that would be squeezed in. There will only be 6" of space next to the right-side mirror so I'm leaning toward overhead....See MoreAsymmetrical bathroom vanity, need lighting/mirror(s) advice.
Comments (0)m down to the wire, in decision making, before electrician comes in to review our electrical needs in basement. I so want sconces as opposed to overhead lighting, but it may be as simple as just throwing in the towel on this one. Placement of mirror(s) and lighting over the sink (left side) and the makeup side (right side of vanity) has been extremely difficult for me due to the odd angle of the vanity and the two walls the vanity spans on are not same width. I would appreciate any advise....See Morebathroom vanity lighting and mirror sizing
Comments (2)I would do one large mirror with the two lights for the larger vanity. And one mirror with a single light over the smaller....See Moreaprilneverends
