any ideas for using/decorating bushel baskets
Comments (2)Hey Clarejoe, do you mean like paint them red, green, gold or silver then add XMAS type stuff to them, like holly leaves or green/gold ribbon, mistletoe. Fill them with poinsettas, painted and sprinkled with glitter pine cones, also the pine cones look good srayed with the snow from a can, or santa/elves, reindeer peeking out would be cute. My MIL uses a lot of cedar tree greenery and holly bush/red berries in the stuff that she has made for my XMAS party decorations. Also, she likes to group in 3 or more to make a display. Hope this gives you some ideas. Ramona Here is a link that might be useful: MY BLOG...See MoreDecorated jars
Comments (9)You gals are so fun! I only posted them because it was kinda slow on here and I didn't have anything else new. Karen, that is quite a tongue twister there! LOL You know crafters have always been good about recycling, reusing, and re purposing items. I often force myself to throw away cans, bottles and such--just can't keep/use them all. Jaybird, that's a sweet thought, but I'm afraid I already have to toss more than I paint. Was just in the "mood" to do these. DD, I think they are perfect for bathroom storage--think I'll use them in the front/guest bathroom. Kathleen, one of them would look good with some of my roses in it, huh? However, I usually end up grabbing one of my pitchers--love those with flowers in them. Okay, I'm off to read the other posts. Have a great day! Comments (2)I think the jar should be open so that the stuff inside can be seen. (Maybe you can put the cover underneath, or even lightly tape it to the bottom or back so it doesn't get lost.) Have what looks like a large curving piece of film coming out of the opening for at least a foot with either some of the prizes attached to it or writing (or pics) of what some of the major ones are in the "frames" of the film. I keep thinking of flickering light like from a movie inside the jar. Battery operated led "tea lights" flicker. Light would attract attention. Even a strand of led Christmas lights would get attention. Blinking lights might be appropriate - like a marquee. You can hide the cord coming out under the "film". there are battery operated light strands for wreaths, but they are hard to find at this time of year. A colorful appropriately sized "movie poster" could stand on top or be attached to the side depending on how it is displayed - you could make it on your computer, and it can relate to the auction and why people should bid on this. I don't think this is "over the top" unfortunately since htat is what youa re looking for. I think people will see that the jar can hold many things. Good luck. Comments (13)My mother used a smaller, two-layer Whitman's box as a sewing box. It had a lot of little cardboard compartments. As decor, I could see this as the start of a collection. Keep on the lookout for other pretty boxes that you like and when you have enough, display them on a shelf in the kitchen. I like luckygals' idea of spraying it to preserve it. I have a huge tin box that once held Walker's shortbread. It is mostly red plaid, with a bit of Christmas decoration on it. During the year, it holds some Christmas stuff and acts as storage. This time of year, it gets dusted off and filled with old ornaments and acts as a big decoration. It's also used to transport large numbers of Christmas cookies to parties. But it was far too good-looking to throw out....See Moredeegw
