Landscaping help - don't laugh
Comments (7)Well that is a strange situation. I can think of a couple of other options. First, there is a test forum where you can work out what's wrong, and maybe there is discussion there about this kind of problem; I haven't looked. Second, there is a gallery side to this forum, though I think it has little traffic - but you could post your photo there and link to it from here on the discussion side. Finally, you could try posting a link to your Photobucket album in your posting here. This only works if you are willing to have visitors see your whole album, and your settings have to allow public access, I think. I'm no expert, just working it out as I go along! Maybe someone else will have better ideas. KarinL...See MoreMy nuts are tiny! (don't laugh)
Comments (5)Most likely the tree with small nuts grew from a nut or was a grafted tree and the graft died. Most of the big nut trees are grafts. Do you see a lot of "blooms" in the spring on the one that doesn't produce? If you have a lot of blooms but not many nuts it's a pollination problem. However the small nut tree should be a good pollinator for it. You did fertilize them too late, in zone 8 early March with 13-13-13 with zinc and you may need to add lime. Something that the "oldtimers" used to do to improve crops was to use Red Devil Lye on them. Drain cleaner! Crystal Draino will work, do not use liquid. They would sprinkle it around it at the drip line, edge of the tree limbs in the fall. It it seemed to work, but most people nowadays's do not recommend it! If you try it be sure to put your kids and pets up before doing it! You will need to water very good or wait until a rainy day to do it before letting the kids and pets back outside! Here is a link that might be useful: Pecan Blooms...See MoreDon't laugh ok
Comments (6)I knew yall wouldn't laugh but I am excited since I got 0 last year. I learn every year more and more and that's what counts. I definitely will move the potato bed to full sun next year. This years bed was only getting about 4 hours 11-3. We did enjoy every bite cooked all together with onion. I went ahead and dug all the plants since the skins were ready and cleaned up another bed to replant for fall. I got 2 1/2 # potatoes off 6 plants 3 # of carrots that were hiding and 6# cucumbers plus a bunch of beets that were hanging out in a shady bed. Roasted with fresh herbs and onions will be a nice dinner. I am thrilled and when I get to garden at my new place I will be ready and full of experience! kim...See MoreTV Trays ... (don't laugh!)
Comments (48)Thanks, Terriks! We ate dinner last night off our "new" $10/pair trays, and darned if we didn't look like a couple of little old people -- DH all scooted up to his tray while sitting on the edge of the recliner and me hunched over mine, perched on the edge of my chair! LOL! But hey, no spills on our laps, as has happened too many times when we attempt to precariously balance plates!...See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
