Over-wintering potted hostas

I have a few hostas that I may not get in their permanent home before winter. I've been reading here about the various methods. I don't have a shed and my garage is full of cannas in the winter. I read that some people either place the pots on their side or partially bury them. I do have this large raised bed that is currently home to my tomatoes but it will be empty in the fall.

Could I bury the pots here, lay them on their sides, or should I plant the hostas in here and move them in the Spring. The bed is open on the bottom and filled with a combination of garden soil, potting soil, and compost.
