You know, it's interesting how when we travel to Europe or other parts of the world where we can see buildings several hundred years old, we appreciate the patina of age on things -- plaster showing its age, cracked stone paving, irregular color in brick, time-worn marble, and so on. In the US we always want to rip out the old, solid materials because of minor imperfectons, and replace them with something shiny, new, and not necessarily of equal quality. If there is a real problem with your tiles -- undermined and unstable surface, safety issues, water leaks, or whatever -- sure, replace them. But otherwise the older material has charm that pavers do not have, in particular with your nice brick wall and balusters. You'd want all your architectural elements to be speaking the same language.

Thanks for the reply, agreenthumb. Not sure what you mean about 'joints'. This is one rectangular slab of concrete 17 X 12. I believe the suggested product is spread, not sprayed. Are you saying to apply sand over the 'wet look' sealant to create texture? Wouldn't that kill the sheen? I'm trying to manage this from home (Chicagoland). The project is on Maui. I am learning more than I ever wanted to know about this topic! LOL

There are penetrating sealers for specialty concrete finishes that are not as slippery as you might think :) The texture in the stamped concrete or even decorative overlays assist with slickness and there are additives that can be put in the final seal coat to add traction. We prefer to use more texture than additive in areas that are going to be traveled by bare feet though. Celeste

How did you end up fixing this? I am in the midst of going to court cause of job that was done. The only reason I took it to the courts is because the owner kept saying he was going to come out and look at it…then he stopped answering or returning calls. Plus…the concrete is not even. I have been searching for ways to fix the stamped job. I have had 2 contractors offer me an estimate. Both stated to have the job broken up and completely re-done 🥴
