Making your own recycled glass countertops
Comments (6)I recently researched concrete countertops for my brother, who decided to do exposed stone aggregate. I think there were a couple that used glass inclusions. Here are the links I emailed him (complete with a couple of my notes): http://www.concretenetwork.com/anne_balogh/installing_concrete_countertops.htm http://www.concretenetwork.com/concrete/countertops/ http://www.concreteexchange.com/how-to-center/concrete-countertops/precast/ This guy didn't use rebar--he used woven wire fencing: http://www.instructables.com/id/Concrete-Countertops-for-the-Kitchen---Solid-Surfa/?ALLSTEPS This guy recommends rebar front and back for a sink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7GuE2O2DAo This is a good one--he uses 3/8 rebar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de7DoRhDYtQ http://www.bobvila.com/articles/how-to-make-diy-concrete-countertops/#.VQ-nkY7CaSo And this YouTube video has info on foam forms for concrete countertops. The man has several videos with lots of info. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_bki0Y0R0U...See MoreCountertops - Avonite, Glass, Recycled glass?
Comments (6)Gene McDonald at Refresh Interiors does a lot of that series of Avonite and may have a remnant that would do a vanity. If he's got some you like, shoot me some dimensions and I'll give you a number. If you like it, I'll ship it to you and you can have it installed. By the way, a fabricator pays about $50.00 per square foot for that stuff sitting on a pallet untouched and a sheet is 30SF....See MoreWhat type of pendant on top of bright blue recycled glass island top?
Comments (3)That is stunning! I am not a pro, but I think metal pendants would be nice. Since you have the stainless in the appliances, I would pick brushed nickel. You might want to look at black metal too. I think I would stay away from anything shiny as you have a lot or reflective surfaces in place already. You HAVE to post 'after' pictures.....I love the countertop!...See MoreKitchen counter - Recycled glass
Comments (3)Hi, What do you mean exactly? What is blowing out? I would think it'd be difficult to replace a portion of a counter top. Thank you!...See Morejust_janni
