Let's have tea...it's Tuesday, but really chilly, today!
Comments (5)This morning there was lots of sun and it felt mild out there, so I put garden gloves on (heavy hoodie and hat too) and nosed around the garden. I ended up pulling shotweed out of one bed and from in between the stones in the courtyard. Even tho it is small yet, some were blooming! I hate that stuff so much. Anyway, I got a bucketful. Last Fall I didn't cut back the anemone or lupines so now I have that job to do as soon as it dries up a bit more out there. Lots of new growth on the lupines already. Think I 'll take down the burlap windbreaks this week. Somehow I need to roll them up and label them as to which goes where for next winter. They kept the majority of cold winds off the boxwood but I see where some damaged areas from the winter before are not going to recover so I'll need to cut the dead wood out. I came in at 1pm. and put the kettle on for tea. It was about a half hour later that I began to chill, so changed shirts and turned up the thermostat. sheesh. Had thought about having tea down in the little barn before but decided against that real quick. The market where I buy my honey must not be going to carry the honey I like any more. Even tho it's from the same home based company, they must have two different apiaries in two different towns. Sounds crazy but I prefer the taste of the honey from the one town over the other, esp. in my tea. It makes a difference, it really does. Anyone have special plans for Easter? Hard to believe it is this Sunday already. For the first time in years, I'm not coloring eggs. Mom says I always say this but at the last minute run to the store for egg dye. ha. We are going out to eat with my brother and his family on Saturday....See MoreI'll start the tea thread today!
Comments (18)Too funny! I'm still trying to figure out 'titers'? I got tetanus, flu, and shingles shots last year. :( And a pneumonia shot the year before. Since I'm long out of the Air Force, I've not gotten too many shots - unless we count all the insulin. My poor jelly belly! Harry still hunts, not as hard, not as long, and not as often as before, but he comes alive when it's time to load up in the truck. We keep both dogs current on their rabies/parvovirus/distemper boosters and Lyme disease shots. They hunt on the prairie and often meet up with coons, skunks, coyotes and other potential disease carriers. They also have to get the bordotela spray since they occasionally have to go to doggie day care. All dogs staying there must be current on all the meds. We have to register our dogs in town each year and they have to see proof of shots as well. There's also flea and tick control, and heart worm meds. The vet is so impressed with Harry's muscle tone and activity level. He did a blood panel; all of his organs are firing on all eight cylinders! Surprisingly, he did have a UTI. This is the first time this has happened ever. We had no clue and he was not showing any symptoms at all. He's on a good antibiotic so he'll be right as rain in no time. I wish my own doc was half as thorough, half as concerned, and half as professional as Dr. V. Harry loves to go to the vet; he gets all happy once I turn off the Buffalo Road. He knows where we're going! This has been his only vet inall these years. Harry, left, and his Great x3 nephew, Sam. Harry says "why do I have to pose with this goof ball?" They were on a half-day camp with Wes.'q...See MoreI'll start the Tea Time thread
Comments (22)Oh WOW....I haven't visited here in a long time....and gosh those raspberry tarts look oh so yummy. Are there any left? I did copy and paste the recipe and our r.aspberries are slow....ly ripening. Only the smallest handfuls so far. Many Thanks Nice to see so many familiar faces....er.... names. We used to have a small house like 800 sq feet (nice weather and a large deck helped) in the foothills of California. It turned into a second home for many years too, then bigger, now smaller. This 12 year residence is just under 2,000 ft, and I don't think of it as small....and on a 10,000 sq. ft lot. As we get older....it keeps feeling bigger, and harder to keep up. A constant "downsizing" seems to stress me every spring/summer. Love, love that blue cup, and Caroline (nice to find you here) just want to say the Pharmacy you are dealing with is no worse than ours....every three months I have to bite my tongue.....between gov't rules and so many "old" Pharms. closing here in So Or, ones patience gets stretched. Lucky me...DS has taken over that headache and knows one of the Pharmacists....problem solved.(at least this 3 month period, again.) Gotta try those cucumber sandwiches AAA....it has been a while and they sound so refreshing.....on sour dough bread???? That will be a first. Thanks for the invite....I'll be back again. Love that umumum alligator ? surely not a gecko or chameleon. I saw the first one EVER here in SoOr just a few weeks ago....and he was at least 10-12inches long and chubby-fat. (DH had dug up some of the sprinkler system to repair and may have disturbed him. I hope he continues to have a long and lovely life, wherever....See MoreI'm going to start the tea thread early this week : )
Comments (22)I am not really dieting any more either. Just sticking to the way I have been eating for the last year and a half with the slight addition of some veggies and cottage cheese. Amazing how a fresh picked tomato and big spoonful of cottage cheese can taste like desert. I lost another pound yesterday. Was kind of unexpected as it has been so long since I have lost any more weight. I am pleased with how I am now and will continue to add a bit of veggie until the weight loss stops then I will hold at that level for life. I am not much on exercising. I get enough exercise just taking care of this place. I imagine I would or could be in better physical shape if I did exercise but I just am not into it. Other then my stretches in the morning and that just gets me up and going with out as much body pain. HA I did get a cramp in my calf the other morning and I was doing some pretty fancy contorting to get to it but the cats had me pinned in place laying on top of the covers over me. OH that hurts so bad. Leg is still sore from it two days later....See MoreShades_of_idaho
