I have a bright living room and a dark hallway that share a wall, flows seamlessly from living room to hallway. I want a white/gray color for the hallway but a little more substantial gray for the living room. Anyway to do that? Is there a way to gradually change a color or if I used like a 50% lightened version of the color I chose for the living room?? Wasn't sure if it could be like.... Feathered in or something. Thoughts??

If Edgecomb Gray is too pink, my bet is that Collingwood will be too. If you are still looking at grays, Ozark Shadows is in between Sea Haze and Rockport Gray. I tend to agree, though, that gray may not be your best bet. If you are going to address lighting, definitely do that before you look at colors. The lower the light level, the less our ability to pick out colors (that's why we are all essentially color blind at night). So in low light, low saturation colors can look gray, and even high saturation colors look slightly grayed out. Pastels don't have a lot of pigment, so our eyes have trouble picking out the color in low light and they tend to look gray or white. Darker colors have lots of pigment, so we have an easier time reading the color event when light levels are low.

I don't think the paint color for the credenza is where you should be looking to add color. I looks like right now the only color you have is the throw pillows in brick red or burgundy. The credenza is big enough that whatever color you paint it is going to have a huge impact, and lighter colors--say if you painted it light green--are probably not going mesh well with you existing decor. So unless you want to completely overhaul the decor in the room, I think it is better to keep the credenza neutral and add color in other ways. I would probably paint it white or off-white, which would tie in with the rug, the chair on the left, and the mats for artwork. Change out the throw pillows for a lighter accent color of your choice, and repeat that color elsewhere in the room. Maybe a table lamp next to the sofa? Your rug seems small for the space, but seems to be doing a good job of brightening up the space. Would you consider replacing it with a larger rug in similar colors?

Since it is all so open, I would paint the same color in the kitchen, dining and living. Maybe the creamy white of your dining chairs would work throughout. If you don't want to paint the kitchen, you could bring that same color into the dining/living. Or you could take another shade from that same color strip/card and bring that into the living/dining. Other improvements: your rugs are too small, and so are your lamps. Your dining light is dated and your art is dissonant and not hung correctly. The coffee table is too large and heavy, and I would match drapes to the wall color once you figure that out. I do like your red cabinet and blue cache-pot! Have you thought about installing drown molding? How high are your walls? Here's a creamy white on walls (Navajo White) and brighter on trim (White Dove) so you can get the idea, even though this is not the style of your home.
