Well it isn't Minerva that is for sure...any ideas?
Comments (19)This is odd, there are similarities to soo many in this one. You are right Jodi and I sure most have better conditions for their babies. I try to keep them happy...haha! Would the actual size of the bloom have any indication? These blooms are pretty petite I would say...not mini, but not huge like my previous 'Red Lions'. Larissa, I've never had a Red Lion with streaks either, but Kristi has a beautiful one up there...this is so odd isn't it? Maybe I just want so much for it to not be just another Lion...haha! I wish I could capture the deep coloring because my camera makes it look so much lighter than it really is. If it will ever stop raining, I am going to try to snap it outside. Maybe I will just take Ryans advice and call it an original Frank Production...I like that! Thanks for all the input ya'll. :-) -Frank...See MoreFirst delivery of worms. Comments (7)I'm happy to report that a replacement batch arrived today. Sadly they spent a week in transit, likely due to the holidays, but other than a few dried worms they were all very happy to be home!! Placed them in my bin and within half an hour they have all migrated down. Since the first 27 are still alive and kicking and I would say the bin is in great condition for these new worms... I'll officially call myself a vermicomposter :) Gosh, I hope I didn't just jinx myself, lol. On another note.... my father in law gave us an old smoker, one of the tall ones like an Old Smokey. I'm thinking of converting it into a flow through project after the first of the year. Already has a grate and lid, so I'm thinking why not..... Thoughts anyone? My main concern is rust, but I could line it with pond lining or a tarp like I've seen some do. It's metal, so definitely no direct sun if I should keep it outside. Plenty of time to play around with the idea :)...See MoreHelp! I'm stuck - and lurking just isn't working :)
Comments (42)One particular treatment that was done in the 18th and 19th c. when it came to paint, was to paint the entire room in the same color, trim and all. The modern interpretation of this would be to do a higher sheen level on the millwork. This could address the issue of the different sizes of doors and such and minimize the horizontal banding effect of a wainscot. * * * * Mount Pleasant, a Georgian house that has slowly been taken back from colonial revival notions of what it looked like to what it Really looked like --based upon physical analysis-- had very Interesting paint treatment: The entire room, including all the heavy Georgian detail, was painted in one color (a rather drab gold if I remember) The cupboards had a bright paint treatment on the interiors, and there was a brownish black band of paint that ran around the lower 6-9" of the perimeter, intersecting EVERYTHING: door jambs, doors, fireplace, etc...a cut line straight across. (Apparently to hide the splash marks from washing the floors and muddy clothing and such)...See MoreI had a heck of a time finding this place....I'm so glad it isn't gone
Comments (16)I am here, too! I remember the glass "flowers" being a hot item when I checked in more often. There were many, many discussion on the best adhesive to use. I still have plates, cups, pieces of rebar, etc., "ready" to be made into a flower or two. This is hopefully this Spring will see the final stage of turning an early 1950s concrete birdbath into a colorful Fairy Garden. I got it sandblasted this winter but am waiting for warmer weather to take it outside for painting. I have all the basic furnishings - including a pair of tiny Napcoware rabbits, a teeny-tiny ceramic frog, a ceramic bird house that resembles an English cottage, a twig fence, a terracotta flower fairy, a pair of ceramic butterflies to attach to the painted base, and a "found" piece of old rusty barbed wire that resembles a seahorse - or dragon! I am going to be so excited to send "it's completed" photos to my young niece that requested this project be done."...See Morehobbyartisan (Saskatoon, SK Canada, 2b)
