We used Mohawk Smartstrand berber in our basement rec room and a nylon Mohawk in the bedrooms. Ours were more expensive than you are looking at. As for berber, we had an off white wool berber in our old house for 20 years that was indestructible and unstainable (grape juice, red Kool-Aid etc. did not stain it and nothing snagged it, not even our dog and cat). We were so impressed by that berber that we got it again for this house, but we got smartstrand instead of wool because wool is extremely expensive. The smartstrand has not stained, but it does snag. Luckily, it has a backing that keeps snags from running and the snags can be repaird, but they may not use that backing at the price point you are looking at. If the berber you are looking does not have the backing that stop snags from running, I would not get it if you have small children and pets. In fact, although I really like the berber that we have in our new house, I would not get it again as long as we have pets even if it had the backing that stops snags. We've only had three snags in the basement carpet the year and half that we have lived in our new house. The first snag happened when the dog was rolling on his back on the floor--one of his dog tags caught in the carpet and of course, being a dog and feeling trapped, he kept tugging and tugging at it and pulled out yarns that left a 3/4" x 3/4" bare spot--if the backing didn't stop runs I'm sure we would have had a run that went from wall to wall to wall to wall. We were able to glue the yarns back and the repair would have been invisible, except that cat really liked the latex glue that you use to fix carpet and the cat kept pulling it back up. The other snags were not from the dog and were small and easily repaired, but I do worry about snags every time the dog is down the basement. Good luck!

I had originally picked greys and greens (revere pewter was the grey, can't recall the greens). When I looked at the samples in the house I realised the high desert landscape fit better with warm beiges with no pink undertone (I have a strong aversion to flesh tones). I wound up with BMGrant Beige and Huntington Beige with a few deep purple accents in backs of niches and powder, and slate blue that compliments the purple for other accents (niche and accent walls in guest room and office). Then I went a little crazy and painted my master bath and bedroom grey mirage - a soft grey green - but added a light purple wisteria accent wall (and bookshelf columns in the entry leading into the room). All trim throughout the house is bone. I had a consultation with a designer who encouraged me to think about the color architecturally - emphasising the volume of a wall or what Zi want to do (warm it, recede it).. So we added a picture rail to pull down the 20 ft high ceiling in the living room, bringing the bone ceiling color down the walls to the rail. Also, painting the largest blank wall the warmer Huntington beige, including wrapping the paint around the other side of that wall where it becomes the back wall/entrance into living room from the entry. We used Porter Velvet White - have used in the past 3 houses. It is no longer made but is very similar to dover white as I realized when I ordered plantation shutters for our bedrooms. Simply White is lovely - by BM - we used it on a vanity. We wanted creamier cabinets and trim. It is less creamy than Linen White, which is also lovely but more cream. Buckheadhillbilly used SW Creamy but had the black taken out - she thought it made it look dingy. I also thought it was a little dingy so I can see how that is a good solution. I thought Acadia white was too yellow for us . . This is a hard decision!!! BM Marscapone is a designer favorite, as is Linen White, and Simply White. I am not a fan of a super stark white so the standard white was not my favorite.

Our cabinets are a true crisp white with a tiny hint of warmth. They are Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. I love them because they look so classic, and they don't have any hint of yellow to them despite what type of light we are getting. Our kitchen is north-facing with plenty of light and the colour just "works". Good luck on finding your perfect white or off-white!
