Comments (8)Fukien is an evergreen, 'tropical' bonsai. Did you scratch the bark on the main trunk, down near the roots? Or just on one of the branches. Trying to give you hope here :) - I'd also take it out of the dirt and look at the roots; if the roots look 'alive' you may be able to salvage it with lots of tender care. I had a mini-rose climber in a pot on my son's deck last summer; it looked absolutely dead, and I was in the process of cleaning out the pot to plant something else, when I noticed there were a few 'live-looking' roots. I cut the bush way back, repotted in peat/vermiculite, fed it some 'Thrive' and weak fertilizer, and just noted yesterday it's putting out new shoots!...See MorePlease help identify a tree.
Comments (9)We have decided to treat it as if it were Elaeagnus umbellata (Autumn Olive) until we get more identification information from flowers and fruit. Wikipedia says some Callistemons can be grown from cuttings, so I'm going to try to root the little bit I snagged and see what happens....See MoreHelp identify this bush/small tree
Comments (5)I have one of my own and the blooms are really easy to miss. Mine blooms in late spring and the small white flowers usually fall off. The coppery-red growth up top and the smooth, peeling bark are tell-tale characteristics of Psidium littorale. It's fairly common, you should be able to find these at nearly all big-box nurseries in Southern California if your cuttings don't root....See MoreJennifer Golden
