When I moved from my old trusty Maytag top load 712 series washer and dryer to the front load neptunes, the most significant difference between the old dryer and new dryer was about 17 years. Almost the same exact operation between the two and very nearly the same mechanical components. I dont really thing dryer technology has changed much in nearly 40 years. keep the dryer if it works fine.

The 2 outer wires are L1 and L2 and the central wire is your neutral. However there is more to it than just hooking up the wires. You will also need to ground the neutral to the frame of the dryer. With out the dryer grounded you could be killed if an electrical part shorted out. This could potentially make the chassis live. Because you have to ask the questions you asked in your post I would strongly suggest you have the power cord replaced by a service tech or electrician. When it comes to electricity and the safety of your family make sure the job is done right.

SQ sells extra long fill hoses. Visit anyone of their parts distributors. Drain will only reach so far, and machine performance for draining goes down with long drain lines that increase back pressure. Gwarstong has a good point, better figure out the vent for the dryer.

Replacing the dryer power cable is certainly much simpler than moving the outlet. Did the dryer already have the power cord attached when it was uncrated? In my experience, attaching the power cord is usually part of the installer's job, and they sometimes have longer cords available to use if the standard cord (IIRC, 4ft.) is too short. I had to get a 6ft. cord myself to use with my dryer because the installers had no extra long cords. In any case, dryer power cords are easy to buy at Home Depot or Lowe's, or even Ace Hardware. You need to get the right configuration (three or four prongs, depending on the outlet) but there is standardization to the extent that you almost cannot do anything wrong if you do it yourself.
