Help Please!! Silgranit color - does the metallic gray look cheap
Comments (4)I debated between them and chose cinder, but cinder is warmer in tone than I expected. The metallic gray does not look cheap, and I'd encourage you to choose it; you can use easily changed accessories for the "little something" in your kitchen. IMO, sinks shouldn't be one of the leading players in a kitchen (maybe copper is an exception). But make sure the gray complements the counter, and isn't a near miss....See MoreHaving second thoughts about the barnyard gray-blue cabinets I bought
Comments (10)Thanks! I am going to look at more granite--at the House of Granite. I'm in the Chicago area. I don't know how much to trust those sort of outfits. They have decent reviews and will do the install. They want 28 a sq ft, installed, and we are currently paying 76 a sq ft. If anyone has any granite pics they'd recommend, that would be great. We were looking at darker stuff with some blue swirls in it, but it was 100 bucks a sq ft. Thanks again! I've been on this site before, but this is the first time I'm remodeling my own home....See MoreChrome Vintage Stove - Mixed Metal Cabinet Hardware/ Faucet?
Comments (8)Hi Patricia, Thank you for the feedback! Maybe contemporary is not the right word? I'll edit my post. I basically like the look in the kitchen inspiration photos. I know this sounds crazy, but I kind of hate chrome...outside of my chrome oven of course. Do you have any other finish/ hardware suggestions that would go with a black and white/wood kitchen?...See MoreMixing kitchen metals with gray cabinets
Comments (2)Well grey wood is really anything but bright and cozy, but if you're set on it so be it. What rustic wood are you thinking? IMO that's where the overkill comes in. Are you doing to do it in the stained grey again or leave it natural for the warmth? And what do you mean by put the wood around the window? If you're referring to using it as trim really the kitchen window trim should match the rest of the trim in the home. As for the metals- have you properly researched copper sinks? Some people love them, other's have major issues. The SS appliances are a neutral, so don't worry about them. Warm metals do play well against grey, but its typically done with painted grey cabinets not stained. IMO there is a lot of ideas being tossed around trying to achieve this "modern farmhouse" idea, but I think what's going to happen is that it's going to be too much. A modern farmhouse is a subtle style. It's natural materials, bright, warmth etc. You don't need to beat people over the head with it by using reclaimed wood every opportunity you have. Restraint will be your best friend in this design....See Morerockybird
