All in all, yes, I'd buy Marvel again, though I might look more closely at Perlick first. From what I've heard they may be quieter. I can't remember why I decided against them in the first place, but they weren't high on my list. It might just have been that there were more Marvel units on the floors of the showrooms. I was being a bit facetious when I said the Marvel are not quiet. They're actually loud. When they were first plugged in, and there was no other noise in my kitchen, and I was working hard, I had to unplug. That initial cooldown is unrelenting. I plugged back in so it could cool overnight with no one in the room. With the kitchen running, with the hood on, and/or people talking, and/or music or TV, I don't notice the drawers cycling. I was sitting quietly, alone, the other day, watching a TV show I'd recorded, and did notice the noise. It wasn't enough to be bothersome over the TV, but it was noticeable. The TV stands just about right over the fridge drawers, which open on the opposite side of the island from the seating. I wouldn't give up the amount of usable space, inc. drawer height for the bottles, for something quieter. That might have been the issue with Perlick. It's amazing how much the Marvel hold. I've put a 22 lb. turkey, in the cardboard carton it came in, in the top drawer. That's bigger than my Graniteware roaster, which also fits with plenty of room to spare. The crazy thing is that while the cycle is loud, the drawer open alarm is very tiny. It can't be heard outside of the kitchen, unlike the timers on my stove and ovens which also are beeps but can be heard in the living room. When there's an open drawer and one comes into the kitchen, there's a "what's that?" thing, like a travel alarm going off forgotten in a suitcase. Not for a contemplative area, but should be fine anywhere there's a bit of hustle bustle. Oh! Right. Mine are also raised on a small platform because the island is a bit raised. That might make them louder too.

Ivette, What antss said. I've been vacumning the coils about every 4-6 months and they're sometimes pretty dusty but this is NYC - it's dusty. Re my cooling problem: the closer it got to Christmas I became increasingly annoyed that I was having a crowd for Christmas and was going to have to pack ice to keep the food cold enough. So when I called SZ on Friday at dawn re paying for the out-of-warranty gaskets on the freezer that frosts my food, I decided to recite my 'I'm not happy' litany for customer service. I'm very pleasant as I recite. It goes: I have this expensive new fridge and it needed parts replaced out of the box, and I'm not happy. I'm having a crowd for Christmas and I don't have a working fridge, and I'm not happy. I'm told there's a leak which requires a major rebuild; this should have been done in the factory or on the drawing board and not in my kitchen and I'm not happy. The cheap Sanyo this replaced worked better than this does and I'm not happy. It goes on. They want to get rid of me. The rep authorized the gasket repair, no charge and contacted the service company. She was pleased to tell me that they were coming that day to charge the fridge which would hold for the week until they came to repair. I thanked her but told her I was leaving for work, I have already lost a day of work that week for the fridge and was going to lose another for the repair and I asked if they could come Friday evening or Saturday morning to do the charge. They came Saturday morning and there was a miracle ! The parts for the repair magically appeared so they were able to do the full repair on Saturday am before Christmas !

I habe refrigerator drawers and they work great. One top is refrigerator and below is a freezer. The top has pre selections of different types of temp settings (snacks,drinks,produce,variety etc) and can manually set the temp the preferred temp too. Freezer is great, it has pre sets as well (chill, deep freeze, spirits) and one great thing is it also has an ice machine if desired. love them, I use them for my drink station and barely touch my wine fridge since it’s mostly for looks and less convenient than fridge drawers! I’ve seen other people use them as a snack station for kids with apples juices cheese strings etc. I love it as a beverage center I can fit a ton of stuff in it: beers ciders wines orange juice etc. I use the freezer for spirits. for the noise, it is so quiet I don’t ever hear it running IMO but the ice machine sure is loud I can hear when the water pump turns on to refill the ice tray and the ice drops into the bucket it’s loud. My cabinet guy never was able to fit it in flat to the rest of the cabinets for some reason, if your considering cabinet ready you may want to check that first. The ice machine doesn’t have a way of recognizing when the bucket is full so you could easily overflow the ice bucket into affinity which is annoying but after some discipline of turning it off and on when needed, it works fine for us. It’s nice not having to use the ice maker in my large freezer because it’s always so full of food and etc. overall love it and will always use them instead of wine fridge/undercounter door fridge.

Thanks for your input everyone. I was sleepy and a bit panicked when I wrote this and left out some **very** key information. Sorry. The carcass of the pantry cabinet was built at 21" and we would have to shorten it to 19" to be flush with the subzero and counter. What interior depth sized drawer do you think I could fit in a 19" deep pantry, with Blum or any other slider? See pic and these notes to understand why: * Our house is 165 years old and this kitchen has been added on to by many owners in bizarre ways which we are working around. * L shaped 100 year old marble countertop over DW, sink, and lazy Susan is about 25.25" deep. It is already a cut and finished counter with attached sink that we are reusing from our former cabinets and won't be changing at all. * Pantry (left most unit on drawing below, says 'micro') has a cement block wall behind it that juts into the space 6.5", shaded in grey. If we take pantry unit back to 19" it will then be in line with the DW countertop and subzero. (Without fully understanding the implications, I signed off on making it 21" to hav deeper drawers not understanding it would make everything non-flush.) * There is also a short wall, shown in grey, between the pantry and fridge that has supply and drain pipes to the washer on second floor above. This short wall will be buried behind the face of the pantry. *We were able to remove the chase - purple box labeled TBD and cut back the other purple area 12". Please keep your comments coming!
