living room/dining room help please!!
Comments (6)A round or square end table big enough to provide useful space for both sofa and loveseat would work, with a large lamp. I have a couple of live plants under a similar mini-split ac unit and also near hear registers and they don’t seem bothered as long as i don’t let them dry out. Some pillows that pull the color from the very pretty rug would be nice, maybe the pink? Or green? Drapery panels can often make the difference between a comfortable room and a cozy room that feels finished IMO. You might want to check out curtains in linen or cotton from Ikea or Target, they’re quite inexpensive and look decent for the money. Mount the rods near the ceiling molding and have the drape just barely touch the floor. You may have to shorten, they make iron on tape that make it easy to hem without needing to sew. A cream color would look nice with your gold-beige walls. Mount the rods wide enough to push the drapes back off the glass for maximum light and views when they’re open. You may never need to close them as you have blind for light and privacy control. hope this helps....See MoreLiving room and dining room help
Comments (6)Hi, you have a nice space to start your projects. Do you need the built-ins? In the photo it looks like they are interfering with your electric heat, your air conditioning unit and they seem a bit flimsy and busy. If you don't have a large book collection, I would take them down. I would look at medium toned wood look laminates, not too busy. You have to choose something that won't clash with your tile and with your different wood tones - trim, the beams and kitchen cabinets wood tones. Definitely bring home samples to look at in you light and space. All neutrals have undertones and the undertones can clash....See MoreLong living room dining room layout help!
Comments (9)Hello Jayne, What a fun space! Here are a few of my thoughts: For the dining space, I would stick with a small, rectangular table. Because you have a doorway to the porch near the dining area and you want room to walk around easily, I would aim for something not larger than 60" long by 36" wide, but you can double check that in the space. As for the seating area, if you want to maximize seating, I might aim for a couch with one or two chairs along the wall with the window. I notice when I have guests, everyone chooses a chair. Not everyone wants to snuggle up next to someone they don't know very well on a sectional. It is also easier to rearrange if you decide to change up the layout. If you want to have even more options for seating, it might also be nice to do one or more ottomans that are cushioned and could be used for feet or as additional seating for guests. They could be grouped together or spread out when being used. If you ended up replacing your coffee table with a/an ottoman/s, you may want to also add end tables so there is a place to set drinks, remotes, or lamps, if desired. For an entertainment center, I would potentially choose something a bit more narrow to make sure it wasn't in the walkway, For instance, this entertainment center is 14" D so it is the same as the depth change in the wall so it could be flush. I can be clumsy and prefer to have things tucked away or I run into them! Then I would add a rug, some lamps, and maybe a great mirror over the fireplace to make it look bigger and brighter! Good luck with your decorating and please share after pictures when you're done!...See MorePlease help me choose rug sizes for Dining Room/Living Room space
Comments (29)Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92"....See Morecawaps
