I would match what you have in the rest of the house ... anything else will look like a cheap/wrong/odd choice.

A sequestered retreat space, visually separated from the rest of the house, not an issue on the exterior view ... I think you could pull it off.

I would keep it consistent. I would pick up the black you want in the finishes, but not in something big and unchangeable, like the window frames.

Can you paint the interior side of the frames black instead? I think I've also seen where you can order a different finish for the interior side but not sure.

We have different color frames. We replaced all the windows in the original part of the house and used a cream color frame. The windows out in the den (addition) didn't need replaced and are bronze. Due to the layout of the house (inside and out) it doesn't bother us. The nearest neighbor is 300 yards away. Doesn't seem to upset the cows ;) You know your layout and what is and isn't acceptable to you. If you like it, go for it :)

Do you like the black frames on the inside or outside? With some window manufacturers, you can have different finishes on the inside and outside. Due to the large amounts of glass in your home, I would keep the outside consistent.

It is possible to get windows where the outside frame and the inside are different finishes. I live in a townhouse development where we are required to have bronze windows, but many people who don't want bronze inside have windows that are bronze outside, white inside.

Don't try paint. I've seen what that looks like.

I think the black on the inside would look great and you obviously have an eye for what looks good based on the pictures shown above. I would try to keep the outside consistent with the rest of the house.

Thanks everyone! So, I spoke with the contractor, who says we can drywall over the frames to minimize them. That might just leave the door. What do you think of the door being aluminum but the mirror frames being black and the fixtures being black? Or would it be okay to have the door frame be black? It will be a smaller glass door going outside to the private garden.

It seems if you kept the door frame light, along with the windows as you are now planning to do, that the whole expanse of the glass walls would appear more as one. So I'd do that and not interrupt the flow with a black door frame.

Did he explain how he would drywall over the frame? I am not sure that would not end up costing more versus just picking a black frame on the inside of the window. If you were keeping the windows aluminum, I think you should keep the door aluminum. The bathroom can continue to have a black mirror and black fixtures without looking incongruous.

Hmmm...thanks snookums2 and homepro01. I think that he probably doesnt mean drywall the whole window frame, but leave some frame showing. How would the aluminum frames (window and door) look if minimized with drywall, with black fixtures and mirrors? Here's a pic of black fixtures that I really like:

Other than it being more permanent and potentially an issue on the outside, I don't see it as any different than having the trim color in a room painted a different color.

So I think you guys are right I should probably stick with aluminum frames. I can then add black fixtures. I am thinking:

fake marble ann sacks floor

walnut floating cabinet

white quartz counters

black fixtures

floating modern tub

I just need to figure out what to do for the shower.
