Need advice for setting vanity against wall
Comments (6)Aesthetics are a personal thing. Personally, I think it would look stupid if you had a 1" gap between your cabinet and the wall without a filler strip. If you already have a top and it overhangs on the side that is closest to the wall, do what people have suggested a couple times above and get a FILLER STRIP. If you don't already have the top, and the drawers don't rub up against the wall or hit door trim then you don't need a filler strip and the countertop you get will be cut so it fits properly. Please let myself or others know if you need more assistance. Thank you and have a nice weekend....See Moreotr microwave hood exhaust dilemma solved.
Comments (4)I'm excited by this, too! I love the placement of my microwave above the stove and was feeling sad that my eventual kitchen facelift might eliminate it. Like Sherriode I have exterior wall placement so I'll add ductwork to the project and hopefully keep steam away from my upper cabinet doors. I see lots of pasta and lobster in my future!...See MoreRefrigerator clearance...against a wall?
Comments (12)My fridge now is about 1/2" from the wall (which sticks out about 3" past the door. I can open the fridge and get the bins out, with a little juggling. The new kitchen has a wall that sticks about 18" past the fridge...it backs on to the vestibule and the wall can't be moved. Breezy- I might :) I used to think a side by side would be great, but after spending time using my friend's fridge...not so sure. My mom has a freezer on the bottom (Amana she's had for years) and loves it, but I think it's hard to get to the freezer...door, not drawer. The drawer style I like, but awfully hard to pull out. The french door fridges are beautiful, but you can't open the door and set stuff on the counter...you're always working around a door, much like my friend's side by side. Not that I'm picky...LOL!...See Moreopinion on kitchen doorway and refrigerator door clearance
Comments (4)Personally, I don't think it's a problem seeing the refrigerator door & handles if the rest of the refrigerator is "built-in" so it isn't a mass of SS. (Yours appears to be built-in.) Note: It's not just the handles, it's also the doors - the doors must stick out past anything adjacent to them - walls, cabinets, counters, other appliances, etc. If you want to hide the doors, then you will need a 9" to 12" spacer b/w the wall and the refrigerator - 9" will work if the wall isn't too much deeper than the refrigerator + doors + handles and the door(s) can open into the doorway; 12" if the refrigerator door(s) won't open into a doorway. That "spacer" can be a 9" or 12" tall pullout pantry cabinet or broom closet or it can be upper + base cabinets....See Morelharpie
