I SAW the Prime Jim being transplanted where this Japanese Wineberry is, and there are no such plants on my property. I'm still scratching my head over this one. Maybe a bird pooped out a seed? I'm a curious type, so I am looking forward to sampling these berries. The flavor is described as sweet and tart, with a raspberry-like flavor (duh).

Hi Folks Well I don't think it is P. nephrodes. The leaves are not correct. It could be a foetida from the picture - see link below showing the typical foetida bract bud cage which they all have. I think it is most likely though to be P. vitifolia as Kiwinut suggests. If it is P. vitifolia it should have a pair of petiole glands (see a pair of them at http://www.passionflow.co.uk/amclose12121.htm) at the base of the stem. The ginger in your photo is Alpinia zerumbet, Shell Ginger. It's pretty cold hardy so might be good for you. The palms with the Aspidistra are Phoenix roebelenii, Pygmy Date Palms. The clump of palms is Phoenix reclinata, Wild Date Palm. They can get much taller with the trunks arching gracefully. I think they look much nicer than the other Phoenix species with the rigid vertical trunks. The variegated Hibiscus is quite popular here also, although I don't have one. When I get a chance I also like to go out and take photos for inspiration. It's not enough that gardening forums lead me into temptation to buy plants I can't afford or have the time to look after.

Many succulents often change color depending on different growing conditions, time of year etc. Many succulents will put on more, warmer, color when exposed to more light. I imagine it was either inside or in low light conditions when you bought it and exposure to more light along with maturity have caused the color change. That chalky stuff you are talking about could be a glaucus leaf coating which is also normal on some plants. I've seen a bronze graptoveria go from a bright pink to a deep green because it was moved into a low light condition (color change caused by stress.) I've also seen stapelias turn from green to pink/orange when moved into higher lighting conditions. Sempervivum hens and chicks change colors year round depending on the season which is one of the things that appeals to many collectors of this spieces. I'm assuming the last picture posted is probably a better representation of what the plant color is more likely to look like. It doesn't look like a Crassula to me. It looks more like some kind of cotyledon reminds me a bit of cotyledon mint truffle but it does have a margin closer to a kalanchoe millotii. It looks a lot like a kalanchoe of some sort actually. There are a lot of kalanchoe's that have a fuzzy coating on the leaves. Hope this helps get you started on a Google search. It's still early though I'm sure someone will be able to ID it here for you.
