Spinach leaves curling/cupping under
Comments (2)I'm growing my spinach in raised beds outside in dirt, but some of the leaves do the very same thing. I have no clue why but it tastes the same and is very healthy. I wouldn't worry about it. Here is a link that might be useful: Sinfonian's garden adventure!...See Morewhy cupped leaves
Comments (7)elskunkito Thanks for the link. I read and think the only thing that could apply in my case is wind. It has been windy every day for a while. The plants were hardened off slowly and have been outside all day and night for last month, except 3 nights where temps were in the high 30s. They were brought in the garage overnight then.I water every third day and they have never wilted or shown signs of sterss other than this upward curl. Artical stated they will be ok in time. It is affecting all plants not just random so i was thinking it was a nutrient def. Any others want to comment? Comments (10)While wood can warp when one side is wetter than the other, when the moisture equalizes, which it will, it will return to its natural state. The problem is due to either or both of these: - Reaction wood -- twisted grain or wood that was grown under stress such as on a hillside. - Differential expansion / contraction rates of radial (from the center out) and tangential (around the growth rings). While these number vary by species, it's generally on the order of twice as much tangentially as radially. This is why logs usually split and open a "pie piece" shaped split.A way to explain this is that the curves in the annual rings tend to flatten out. My opinion is "in the end, the wood has the final say."I've not seen a successful way to "unwarp" something permanently. My recommendation is to use plywood or fabricate new drawer bottoms from quarter-sawn wood. Comments (51)No one discussing soil pH. Single biggest factor to affect health of this tree. Nice job so far. Good looking tree! After some time in the ground I’d do some serious pruning. Especially at the base. Get a good pH soil tester and adjust accordingly with espoma organic soil acidifier. Ph should be around 6.0 Don’t be afraid to fertilize either. Be a good citizen and keep on the look out for citrus greening(HLB). Great resources online from Texas A&M and university of Florida. They have stuff to answer any possible question online If you get too cold this winter just throw a blanket over the tree(or gently place a blanket) Key Lime leafs tend to point up.
