Hi kitchendetective, thanks for posting. This off-white adventure has been so challenging. We have GE color perfect MR16 (low voltage halogen) in track bullets with wide spreads, all on dimmers. Today I tried Palace White. Liking it so far but need to go through a couple of days with it. It is warm -I can tell it has some yellow and black in it but it feels quite neutral. No pink or orange or green tones. I was going to try Indian White but that seems just a bit lighter, pinker and grayer than the Palace White.

As I said in my first post, your terminology was throwing me off a bit. Dromedary Camel isn't yellow. Why don't you say that you want a warm tan with NO yellow. :) The fact that you also said you kinda liked restrained gold....? OK, back to looking at BM Wilmington Tan and SW Stonebriar. These colors are soooo close to each other. I ended up going with Stonebriar in my great room. Unfortunately, my picture taking isn't up to par with most other GWers and you really can't see much of the color in my photos. Don't know if it's me or my old digital camera.

I understand the issue - you're trying to make some affordable updates you can live with before you do whole renovation. Here's a good article that can help you select some new paint colors for the walls and cabinets: How to Change From Beige to Gray / Greige I'm looking for a home in an area where beige/brown/yellow is everywhere so I'm about to be in the same boat - wanting to love my home more but not fully renovate for a while due to budget etc. I agree with the idea of changing out your lightbulbs, and if it works for your budget, changing out just the backsplash could be a great update. Even simple subway tile would modernize and simplify your space and you could use a grout color that ties into the countertops. I would recommend painting your kitchen's trim the same as the rest of the house to unify the space. Hope this helps. Would love to see some "after" photos when you're done!

Given a yellowish ceiling and a pink-beige floor (and the brown trim) what paint color do I choose without creating a clash between these two colors ? Orange. Also known as (YR) Yellow-Red in my world. The pink and yellow don't relate to each other as a pair because the geometry is off. A quick look at a color wheel will show you how to fix any color combination that doesn't look right or looks like it's missing something. In the case of pink and yellow, something is missing. And that's a bridge color to link the two. In this case it's colors from the orange (YR) hue family. The geometry of a color wheel applies to all colors, purely saturated, tints, tones, shades, near neutrals - all of 'em are included.
