Do I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreGreige colors... counter and backsplash choices
Comments (1)I'd take the first sample because of some warmer brown/copper I see running through.Everything else looks so cold to me. I would probably default to a subway in some whitish with a beige leaning toward warm tan grout. Think about warmer hardware [orb?] or maybe white porcelain hardware. You need some warmth for your palette but I like everything....See MoreHelp me pick a backsplash - round 3
Comments (32)WOW,, this is a hard choice! When I cover two options to look at each one individually, they all look like great possibilities. Seriously they all look good. My question is which one is what you like? I know, you don't know hence the post with images... The hard part is the each one of us has a different monitor with variations on lighting. When I look at all three together the right one looks too dark. But then I cover the other two and right one could really work. Then I go back to the middle one saying with the right lighting and maybe their is more gray veining in the counter that could bring that color out. I go back to the first and say it has a slight green hint to the gray color and looks gorgeous...I always lean toward green so this could just be me. Which one? Which one? If I were making the choice right now based on the colors I see before me, I would choose the far right. It does appear darker than the others but it feels like it works with the counters. And something about the far right doesn't have green and while dark it seems to really match the counter. And if you have lots of light coming into the space it is not going to look to dark. And just seeing all your options is giving me lots to think about in my own space ahead....See MoreCould I use these penny tiles as a backsplash with this granite?
Comments (10)I think we'll have to use a light gray grout so the white penny pops. I really love the first penny tiles. I first saw them a year ago but they didn't work with the granite we were originally going to use. Then we reselected this granite and I didn't think about the penny tiles until a few days ago. I was happy to see that it seems to pick up all the gray and greige colors in the granite. I wanted a pop of white too because of the floor and white shower pan. I think this will be the effect if we used the multi-colored pennies in a vertical strip like my drawing: This is how the shower would look. Our toilet is between the vanity and shower so it makes sense to offset the mosaic strip to the open side. We will probably use the same type of rolling shower door. We're going to use this Kohler shower bar, which is a combination shelf and grab bar. It comes in several lengths. We can use either the 24" bar on the shower head side of the shower with the penny tile running through it as shown in my drawing or we can center the 36" bar on the 60" wall, with or without the penny tiles. I think the shower bar is an accent in itself and maybe the shower doesn't need accent tile. Which would you do?...See MoreRelated Professionals
