NEW: September Seeds-n-Stitches Lunch Box Social
Comments (92)I received my box from Melinda today, and it was great! When I opened it, on top was a package of treats for Bump and Stella, so I opened those up and gave them some so I could go through the rest of the box in peace. They can be ever so "helpful" when a box arrives...lol! Once I had them situated, I found crackers and cheese (one of my favorite snacks), a variety of tea (already claimed by my roommate Joe. he's the tea drinker, I'm the coffee drinker), a package of smoked salmon (which I'm also going to give as a treat to the cats IF they're good this week-end), a fudge brownie (MINE!!!), simply indulgent tea which has flowers in it (not sure what'll happen with this, but it sounds like a lot of fun!), a great assortment of charms, and some tomato soup echinacea! Melinda, I've been wanting to try growing this, so these seeds are perfect! Thank You For Everything!!! -Dan...See MorePics of our FR black painted brick fireplace (long post)
Comments (51)I looked again at the entire room, last comment I was focusing on the fireplace, as I had never seen a black fireplace before and it was so bold. I love it. You did an amazing job with the light colour flooring, the black window blind, black couch, light walls, pillows match your flooring, everything gels beautifully. You really changed the look of the room completely. It is very upscale and modern in comparison to the before pic. It is budget friendly too. Also love your kitty, lol!...See MoreSocial anxiety in youth
Comments (18)I hate texting - I should try "talk to text." I wonder if it will work on my phone. For me, texting is very inefficient, as I can talk much faster than I can type on a phone. One of my friends tells me to call him rather than text because he doesn't like typing on a phone either, and he prefers talking to email. I hated talking on the phone when I was a teenager, but I got over that fairly quickly, once I went off to university. I guess I was shy as a teenage, but I did not have many friends, mainly because I went to a rural school until high school. I did not have much in common with farm kids. I took a speech class when I was getting my interior design degree (It was a required course), and I was terrified at first at the thought of it, but I got over that very quickly. It seems that a lot of younger people are not camera shy when it comes to making their own videos, and I always felt that that was more difficult than speaking in public. I'm not particularly camera shy myself, however, and have done some minor acting. I use a headset when talking on the phone, especially if I know it will be a long conversation or if I will need to write something down. I'm not big on multi-tasking - I find it inefficient, due to errors that are made, and I like to concentrate on one thing at a time. Initially, I disliked talking on the phone in Mexico City - at least until my Spanish improved - but it was necessary in order to keep in contact with my friends there. I got fairly good at it after a while, and I learned to be very quick with responses, in case someone's maid answered the phone. If I paused, the maid would hang up on me, and so I had to fire rapid questions to get the information I needed. If you hate talking on the phone, try talking in a foreign language on the phone....See MoreLack of Social Considerateness
Comments (70)The RSVP issue has been a problem for awhile, but it has gotten worse. I remember people calling the day of kids parties, sorry that they are late but…. This was in the 90’s. Even my wedding in tge early 90’s there were people that RSVP’d never showed, no reason ever given. My daughter’s delayed wedding celebration party aka reception is this weekend. It is not huge, a little over 80 were invited. 80 was the maximum for the garden area of the venue that worked well for them. She had to track down about 40% of the RSVP’s these were all close friends or family. There are still a few people that have not responded to the messages she left. At this point, it really does not matter as she has a minimum to meet but if someone knew early on that they were unable to attend, there were others she could have included. She cut quite a few people out that she really wanted to include, to keep to the venue maximum. Off-topic - DD has had a horrible week with emergencies involving close friends. One of her closest friend’s is in the hospital recovering from a diabetic coma and another very close friend’s husband is in ICU due to a horrible auto acccident. Extra sad for DD being the week of their celebration but we are just thankful that both friends are expected to eventually recover, it was touch and go for awhile....See MoreUser
