Reasonable Stainless Steel 30 Gas Range and Gas Range
Comments (3)Under 2k for a closed burner, 30" gas range in stainless is easy. GE Profile, Bosch . . . there are various offerings that should work well. As to adequate ventilation . . . well, there's what it takes to capture smoke, grease, and other by-products of cooking; what it takes to clear the room of odors and/or to manage heat; and there's the question of what bothers you. For smokey cooking of the type you described, I'd guess that 300 cfm is well on the low side. You might be fine with it, but it's not going to clear the kitchen. Really, it shouldn't cost you much more to get a 600 cfm blower. As you are figuring costs, be sure to account for the installation of whatever sort of ventilation system you are going to adopt. That's not just hanging the unit, but installation of the ductwork -- everything between the hood and the outside....See MoreBlack or StainlessSteel Stove Top
Comments (6)When my friends who have stainless come over, they say they wished they had gotten the black that I have....but when I go to my friends who have stainless, I tell them I wished I had gotten stainless. From my experience, they're about the same in upkeep...but a lot of it has to do with the lighting in your kitchen. Before our remodel, I hated my black appliances because the sun revealed every speck of dirt and grease and dust on them. But now they're in different locations, and I haven't even noticed the dirt on them for 5 years... Same appliances, different lighting and no direct sunlight on them. If you have direct lighting on it, I'd stick to stainless...if not, then black is okay... Just make sure you have microfiber towels because they're great for streakless shine.... By the way, I opted for black cast iron sink...and I should have gone the stainless route... live and learn....See MoreAnyone have the Bertazzoni Master Series 36" Stainless Steel Gas Range
Comments (4)Oh good! Mine was a display model at a tiny shop in a tiny town, so I took it as a package deal. The hood included was the 36" that is more powerful (600cfm) so I think they give you half off that one, or full rebate on a less powerful fan. My HVAC guy said 600cfm is appropriate and it's been great so far. I have no idea how the less expensive fan compares. It's a somewhat temporary installation in a rather quirky old kitchen, but it's just perfect to me ;) I've even managed some decent baking. It's been a while, so I'm kind of proud. The last stove was vintage and in very poor shape, so it's all kind of new to me. I loved the lack of electronics on the old stove, which is why I really wanted to try the Berta. Check out our pizza! Sorry. Now I'm just bragging :) I doubt I would have gotten the backsplash, but as I said, it was a package deal. In retrospect, it's kind of perfect since it saved us having to think about it. Someday, the stove will be more built-in, but in the meantime it's a lovely and functional piece of kitchen sculpture. I've cooked on stoves that cost twice as much, and haven't been impressed. Enjoy yours!...See MoreUsing a black stainless range hood with stainless steel appliances
Comments (13)Thank you for all your opinions. @Patricia. As it turns out, we are doing a Bosch dishwasher and a samsung microwave, but the refrigerator, range and hood are GE Profile. After much scouring of the internet I actually found the exact application I was looking to do with the GE range I'm looking at with a hood from a different brand. What do those of you with the trained design eye think?...See MoreUser
