Badgergal, your Otto pendants are beautiful and look so great with your tile BS. I noticed the height difference in your reveal post -- looks good. Pricklypear, I've debated the curvy track a lot. This island lighting issue is going to give me an ulcer, lol. Amanda, thanks, I like both Tech pendants too. When you say I should pay for more holes, do you mean I should use those pendants without a track? GWlolo, believe me, I have been shopping around a lot for track systems. Because of our vaulted ceiling, which is 10' high above the island, I need a system that has 2' rigid supports as an option. That seems to eliminate most companies. We were originally going with a Bruck system with their Rome pendant, but my designer did not like their cable supports and how many would be required. (Plus, the cost was not any lower.) Hosenemesis, I'm glad to hear you like the Dervish too. I think 3 of them would be too much for an 8' island. Just to clarify, I am trying to decide between using 3 smaller pendants, like the 5" diameter Tech pendants, or 2 larger (15" or 22" diameter) pendants, like the Dervish. I welcome more comments on which option is better for an 8' x 4.5' island. TIA!

Three years later and we finally know about this product. I don't consider this house to be our forever house so I was looking for budget friendly countertops. After visiting a local shop we found ceramic slabs that were 24" x 48" and decided to put that in since it would require minimal grout lines; three to be exact, no big deal. Today, we went to the store and the nice lady introduced us to travertine thin slab sheets that are different sizes depending on the color. We chose 38" x 84" which means we will only have one butt-joint line in our L-shape kitchen and our 3' x 4' island will have one continuous slab sheet (the left over will be used for backsplash along with glass tile). I think the pictures show that two islands would work better. Really :), I was thinking maybe not until I saw the pictures. I wouldn't be overly concerned about where the 36" oven ends up. Two islands or one island will cover it up anyway. The one thing I would probably not do with it is place it on the entertainment side of the prep island. It would be a bit awkward to run around the island to check it... You could think of the entertainment island as more of a bar with seating. If there isn't some reason why a sink there would be outrageously expensive, I'd do the sink and perhaps a snack size micro. If that thing next to the ref is an icemaker, I'd move it to the bar. (I can't make out if its an icemaker or trash compactor.)

Sorry I'm so late getting back to you. I think that oddly sized fixtures can be off-putting. Many home buyers are looking for an "ideal" and they can't see past that. If the tub is well made and the bath is located where it's most needed a shorter size tub might not be a problem. If the bath will be used by children then its size is less important, but children grow into teenagers. acm voiced a concern I had about the location of this bath to nearby bedrooms. My mistake in calling it water-resistant drywall. It looks like drywall but it's better referred to as tile backer board. It's most often 1/2 inch thick but I have seen a Hardie brand backer that was only 1/4" thick and came in 3 x 5 ft. sections. HERE is a link to more info on these. There are several types with differing properties. On toilet location, I don't think "obstruction refers to the nearest wall or fixture. I think it refers to something directly in front of the toilet. Looking at your floor plan an angled toilet would not have anything in front of it. There might be room between the toilet and the vanity for a waste basket.
