i have to agree with rmanbike. What Sam's probably carries is a very low-grade leather, probably a by-cast leather which is made of chopped up leather pieces mixed with glue. You really don't know and the salespeople at Sam's probably don't know enough to give you any answers. It is also hard for me to believe that Sam's would not be bringing in their sofas from overseas. All of their wood furniture is imported.

I am in much the same position as the person you are working with, Bee. I really need to do something about my sofa ad while I'd love to buy The Perfect Sofa TM, my experience tells me that 1. It takes me *forever* to find the sofa I like and 2. I can't afford the sofa I want just now. Like others, I have tested the Ektorp and found it very uncomfortable for an evening of laptopping and tv watching. I had a great experience with my last Macy's sofa (under $1000) but they've changed brands and I just don't care for what they currently have to offer (though I am tempted by the Martha Stewart velvet chesterfield-- but that's a very different look than you are going for). I'll say this-- I am far from an "everything in its place" person and I like a comfy, lived-in look but I just don't think I could live with the rumpled seat backs and wrinkled slipcovers (steam them? maybe but not likely.. iron? never). For the Cote de Texas look perhaps you could lean in a different direction-- a linen or velvet upholstery on a more casual style. I am seriously considering reupholstering my roll arm leather sofa in a flax linen-- not for the Cote de Texas look but I think it could surely go that direction. I also so a more refined slipcovered sofa recently-- not sure where it was (darn it).. maybe Williams-Sonoma? Maybe Bob Williams? I'd still be wary but it might be worth looking into. I saw some interesting JCP furniture online-- but this board sent huge warnings out when I was considering a chair there 5 yr ago so I've just not seriously looked there since. Is there a showroom anywhere near here? There used to be a very small one in Lancaster but I think they shut it down. This area is HORRIBLE for upholstered furniture IMO. I've shopped them all-- Gerharts (or whatever it is called.. near Ashcombes and Country Market), David's downtown, Whitco in Linglestown, Wolfs, VCF, Bonton.. everything is so uninspired to me. Heavy on run-of-the-mill traditional or cheap contemporary.

Mtn, yes itâÂÂs an animal skin which is a dime a dozen now discounted on many sites. However it works for me because I already had the big carpet. I had a problem with the dominant color of the kitchen cabinets taking over in the open plan so the animal skin helped ground the living space. It also helped with blending the Fred Flintstone fireplace in the open dining room on far side. The ceiling fan works well! At first the decorative light surround thingy made a rattle noise when the fan was on high, which was very annoying. We just dabbed a tic of clear silicone on one section and that took care of it. I agree about the loveseat not always being useful which is why I went with a three seater and a four seater. I decided against a sectional because most people do not like the corner section as itâÂÂs hard to get out of. The other problem with a sectional was that if I wanted to lie down while husband was, my feet would be in his face during movie watching. He does not have a foot fetish so that wouldnâÂÂt work. For my needs we wanted two items that you could stretch out on for movies or watching series shows. But again, I think it all should be about how and whoâÂÂs using the room. Some people only have room for so much seating. I think where people go wrong on the sofa and loveseat thing is that the pieces are often way too bulky for the space.

I have two Maddox sodas, in the 8 and 9 foot lengths, purchased in 2017 for a total of $11,000. The first pair I returned because the color of the fabric ("Graphite" velvet) was nothing like the swatch, which was a beautiful mossy greenish-brown -- the color shown in the catalog. The delivered fabric was a sort of blue-gray that looked like the mouse-fur upholstery on your average airport rental car. When I phoned and asked about this I was told that the swatches are made in China but the fabric comes from mills in North America. So it seems that someone at RH doesn't understand the concept of the swatch! Anyway RH sent two new couches in a darker color that's okay, but not $11k okay. One recommendation: Pay the extra $200 and get the down filling. The standard polyfill is much too firm. The couches are well made and very comfy but I have one major gripe -- the seat cushions can't be flipped because, except along the front, the piping on the edges is only on the top side. Which is really inexcusable for furniture this expensive -- you need to be able to flip the cushions after a few months to smooth out the wrinkles that accumulate over time, and to equalize wear. That kind of cost-cutting is something you expect to find on a $500 Rooms to Go sofa. The real lesson here, for me at least, was: if you're spending over $10k on furniture, hire a decorator.
