Aphids come in many different colors, and even the mint aphid (yes, there is a mint aphid) could be described as any color from yellow, cream, light green, etc. However, no matter the color, aphids look like aphids. You should be able to recognise the similarities. Spider mites (which are extreeeeeeemly small) and aphids are the predominate pests of mint. You could actually have both pests on your mint, and not see the spider mites (just the damage they are doing).

It is always a mistake to use the most lethal solution. You will kill all of your good bugs,bees, and soil microbes, as well as poison your food when you really don't even know what you want to kill. Many times there is a much less drastic solution, and that should have started with finding out what you had first. Now that you've already sprayed, you should wait and see if the new growth is being eaten. In the meanwhile, go out at night with a flashlight and look for slugs. If your new growth is being eaten, post more pics, ask more questions, look at the underside of the leaves...but find out what you want to kill, first, before you kill everything that moves.

I have a black cherry tree out front that has 4 of the tent caterpillar's tents in it. Fortunately for me, the birds find them to be delicious, and camp out in the tree and on the ground by it, waiting for them to come down in the morning. I have found a few that survived the bird gauntlet, but that was the end of their line. One was eating one of my fledgling raspberry plants. So far, they haven't made their way to the apple tree. I've been avoiding insecticides since they attract birds. So far, that's working.

Looks like green midges (if so they are harmless) but a closer photo of the buggers would be required ... at least for these eyes of mine. ;-)
