36 x 24' vanity in 6 x 6' powder room w/toilet--too tight?
Comments (11)threeapples--I'll see if I can make it over to my Mom's house today and snap a pic of her powder room for you. Hers is set up like layout 1. You really do not see the toilet-part of that is that it is tucked near the wall and for the most part out of direct line of sight. The other part is her sink presentation is stunning & a show stopper when you open the door. I think a photo of a similar layout will help. Positioning the toilet the other direction will make it more difficult to get to the front of the toilet so that would be a no-go for me--see layout below of that scenario. Layout 1 is with Kallista Sink, Layout 2 is with 30" Vanity: Just a question--the layouts show that you can easily do the Kallista console sink, so why not go that route since that's the one you really want? Also, I saw you can just order the legs of the sink--if the width still bothers you, why not just order the legs & have a stone fabricator take care of the top & sink for you? As far as the other vanity goes, I like it and think it will work (but still like Kallista better). I'm not sure about the brass hardware. I'd have to get a sample of the antique brass and put it up against that stain to see how it looked. With a hammered silver sink (which I think would be stunning), I'd really have to think long & hard about the brass... I've also posted a layout of the 30" vanity for you to see the difference (or lack thereof--you're only talking 3" savings on each side))....See MoreSubways on shower, 6x6 on wall???
Comments (10)Thanks everyone!!! I still don't know what the heck to do. I did, however, go ahead and order my listello pieces. And damn it, the tigers eye glass pieces are nothing like the color in my sample. I was beyond irritated but I don't have the strength to start over. Guess I'll learn to love it. Wish I could post a pic or drawing of my bathroom, but I am clueless. I'll try to explain. When you walk through the door from the living area into the bath, on your left is the alcove that will have my shower...no tub, just shower. It is 5'5" long. On your right side will be the vanity and toilet. Then you walk on through another door that goes into a bedroom. So, the shower is on one side, vanity and toilet on the other and these two doors line up with each other on each end. I wanted to put subways on the shower and 6X6 on the wall behind vanity/toilet. OR, I could reverse that, I guess. What to do....what to do. I wish someone had a pic of what I'm thinking of doing. Toadangel, your pics gave me a little idea, but you have a tub with your subways, and your 4x4's are on a shower wall. Thank you so much for them, though. What a nice job! Maybe I'll post this on the decorating forum and see what ideas or pictures I might get over there. Thank you all soooooo much for your thoughts pup...See MoreLooking for 9 ft. oak 4X4
Comments (9)I can't imagine the cost for these if you can find them. One other question. How the heck are you going to anchor these mammoth things down. Why not make the posts out of 4 seperate pieces of oak so that the center is hallow. That way you can cut a piece of wood the same size as the center but only a couple of inches high, anchor this piece down and then add some glue to this piece and then fit the post over it and nail the post to it, countersink the nails, putty over the nail heads and you're done....See MoreWho was looking for 6x6 tile w/color variation?
Comments (4)I second Marcolo's thanks for thinking of me/us. The color variation in those Mandala tiles is about what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I believe they also have size variations characteristic of the handmade look. Here is what they say in the installation guide: Sinu is a specialty tile. Tiles will vary slightly in shape and size. Allowance shall be made for this variance and grout joints shall be no less than 3/16" wide. Maybe some day I will settle for grout this wide, but I am not there yet! Thanks so much again for remembering and recommending....See MoreRelated Professionals
