Newly purchased Echeveria derenosa dry but dying from bottom-up

Greetings! I purchased a Hana Bay Petites Echeveria derenosa on 6/17. I had seen them arrive at my local grocery store just a few days prior and was enamored with the little flowers!
I carefully selected a plant that seemed to be thriving. I kept it on a south-facing windowsill for full light and a couple days after purchasing I gave it a very small amount of water after confirming that the soil was dry.

Within days, the plant rapidly started turning yellow and translucent from the bottom-up. The soil still feels dry and I couldn't see any evidence of rot in the roots, but the root system is very tight in the soil so it's hard to tell. However, I can hardly believe that I could have overwatered the plant. Conversely, it doesn't look dehydrated. Just in case I had watered it too soon I let it "dry out" over the past week but it is still very yellow. The plant still has some of its flowers.

I very much want to save the plant and am wondering if you have any advice—again I would find it hard to believe that it's been overwatered, even though I know that yellowing leaves could indicate that. I must admit that I have been trying to fight mold on another Echeveria, which had been my first succulent, but am losing that battle. I don't know if this could have traveled via spores to the E. derenosa already, but I couldn't spot any mold on this one, just the yellowing.

Any advice? I don't want to lose both succulents, and I am mystified that I could have killed the E. derenosa so quickly...I don't see what I did wrong.
Thank you for any help you can offer!
