Make up air question for the Pros out there

I'm planning a kitchen redo with a 48" range and 48" hood rated at 1000 CFM. Question is: where is the best place for the incoming, make up air duct to terminate? I've read multiple forums where the intake duct is attached to the cold air return on my HVAC system and just as many where they advise against this. Also, anyone have any thoughts about having the MUA duct terminate directly below the new range to create an "air curtain" when the fan is on? (I live in New Jersey...wondering about cold feet in the winter...) Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
