Not a game, the most fascinating, and biggest, HO model train display is 'Minatur-Wunderland' in Hamburg, Germany. Of course lots of trains, but everything about this place is beyond incredible. If you get to Hamburg, plan a whole day. Here is a link that might be useful: Hamburg Model Train

I was really busy this past week-end, and left the window open with the game on. I'm still able to play it this evening. It seems that as long as the window isn't closed, or you don't exit the game, it will continue indefinitely--maybe try it the next time the game is free. I'll let you all know if it changes.
