Window treatments for a NON window treatment type girl
Comments (14)We are not window treatment people either, but have started to add some as we've reno'd/decorated a few of the rooms in our house; two bathrooms and our office. They really do help to finish off a room. That said, we're not covering our kitchen bow window, or the DR bow window, though I might consider something for the DR window at some point--just for the window panes themselves, not to cover the whole bow-unit. We used Hunter Douglas' Designer Screen Shades in the Roman Shade style (ours are mounted inside the frames becuase of our window style/frame depth). The shades are very clean-lined and range in sheerness. With the sheerer weaves/fabrics, you can see outside with them down and they allow a lot of light in....See MoreWindow Treatments for large windows
Comments (2)I am not quite sure how big the skylight window is but I would use a motorized skylight shade. Here is an example - Motorized skylight shade on blinds.com There are a ton of companies that make the motorized shade so you can pick any material. I would use a cellular shade that was blackout in the skylight. With motorization, you can open and close the treatment as you need. For the window wall, I would also look at motorized shades. The question would be an aesthetic question - Do you want the shades to be on individual windows or do you want one long treatment on each vertical window grouping. Individual motorized shades would probably be nice because you could operate each window separately. Most of the motorization controls are built my Somfy. For the type of window treatment, cellular shades offer some thermal insulation, double cell is better than single cell. I am not sure if you want black out shades for these windows. Motorized shades options from blinds.com for example. One other options is to put the window treatments on the outside of the windows if your exterior permits. Take a look at Bandalux for some ideas. Good luck in your search!...See Morewhat kind of window treatments should i pursue for these weird windows

Comments (10)I'd consider simple blinds everywhere, with no valances, and only doing the bottom two-thirds of the tall windows. If you don't have small children, you could even use a bottom up on the tall windows so that the stack would be at the bottom when open. For color, if you are looking for a warm, barely gray, neutral, you might want to look at SW popular gray cut down 50%. It's a nice neutral that has some life to it, changing moods in different lighting throughout the dat and works well with almost anything. We used it in our old house and are using it again in our new house. To be perfectly honest, I don't see undertones well when selecting paint and after lucking into it in the old house, I was pretty sure it would be safe in the new. Even though we had used it before I still painted poster boards and moved them around the new house at different times of day to be sure it would work....See Morearkansas girl
