Pump talk - can someone please tell me what this means?
Comments (4)Welcome. Includes: 2 adapters for hard or soft plumbing option (1-1/2" FPT x 1" Barb/1" MPT and 1-1/2" x 1-7/8" Slip). FPT= Female Pipe thread (threads are on the inside) MPT= Male Pipe Thread (threads are on the ouside) to mate with female. Male dominated industry. Slip= connector fitting with no threads, used for hard pipes like PVC Barb= used to insert into hose and can also adapt hard pipe to hose Sounds like you should bring the pump to the hardware store and look for not a 1" barb but, a 1 1/4 to achieve a higher flow. Aslo see if you can get threaded unions to remove the pump for service or you will be cutting pipes and disturbing the plumbing to remove it later. Are you going to use the black corrugated hose, PVC or what? Do not use the soft silicone hoses, they will collapse and cruch as soon as they get a chance....See MoreCan someone please tell me what type of tree this is ?
Comments (32)Ok , so I decided to Take a piece to the University here , as my sisters friend studies Horticulture, and said she could ask the professor. Hope it doesnt cause an uproar but he said , without a doubt...it is Euonymus alatus(obviously not compactus). He said they can grow to 20 feet tall. He also said that it was unfortunate that they cut it back the way they did, removing the bottom branches . This is why it snaps under a heavy rain...no support from below. So now my question is this , How can I restore it to its proper shape, filling in at the bottom? Should I cut it back in spring ? Its so old im afraid to take it back to a stump....See MoreCan Someone Please Tell Me What This Is....Its Driving Me Crazy
Comments (24)Hair spray actually used to be dangerous. The propellant used was vinyl chloride. It was hardest on barbers and hairdressers since they were around it all the time. The danger was a significantly increased risk of liver cancer. I think the show I watched was called the Chemical Revolution. There was also something in maybe the hair dye?? that caused a surprisingly high rate of bladder cancer in hairdressers. (Obviously this is not a commonly occurring cancer.) Here is a link that might be useful: PBS link about Hair Spray Propellant...See MoreCan someone please tell me what is going on in my basement?
Comments (1)We had a bad flood in our basement after a big rain fall. There was over 6 inches of water and our brand new floating floor had to be removed. We still don't understand what happened. We had someone come for an inspection and said it was groundwater. However, I took this video of the sewage drain pipe when there was another bad rainfall. Why does the water seem to moving into the house? I also have attached photos of where water seems to be coming up from cracks in the basement floor? We have been here for 2 years and never had a problem with flooding. We think it might have to do the excavation when replacing the main water valve from our house to the street. Any ideas of how the sewer access pipe and ground water flooding might be related? What should we do to prevent this in the future? Is a plumber the right person to call? Thank you....See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
