Cacti and Succulent IDs Please- New Thread
Comments (8)crylady, Hmm... that defintely doesn't sound like a brain cactus lol. I'm not sure what that would be. Do you have a photo you can post, maybe someone can help you identify it? I didn't see a form when I clicked on the link to rjm710's URL he posted... I saw "latin name" on the left side near the middle of the screen and "common name" on the right, where you can type in either the latin name of the cactus or the common name. It seemed to work ok for me, I didn't see anything about ICQ? Did you click on anything right after you clicked the URL or no? rjm710, You're welcome lol. That sounds like that's all I can do, just wait until it blooms. I find that alot of cacti and succulents that you buy from "the cacti collection" or "the succulent" collection are mislabeled like crazy. I found two differents labels in two different pots, but they were the same plant! I returned one of the aloes/gaterias/whatever it is lol back to Lowes. I downsized my collection you could say... Comments (6)Dave, Sorry, they are actually photos from webshots, but apparently webshots doesn't like me. I've created a new album in webshots with the two photos I was trying to post here yesterday. The album name is "ID Cacti." Please click on this album to display the two photos. If you need a closer look at the photos, click on the photo you want to look at in more detail. Underneath there is a magnifying glass with a + sign on it, click on that. That should open the photo in a new browser window. If you want an even closer look, once you have the photo in a new browser window, click your mouse on it, it should enlarge the photo even more. Not to sound like nobody knows how to do this, but if someone doesn't, I figured I'd mention it before he/she asked. Here is a link that might be useful: Cacti ID Photo Album...See MoreSomeone help me ID my cacti/succulents please?
Comments (6)Sadly, just because a bagged soil is called 'cactus soil' that doesn't necessarily mean it's any good for cacti and succulents as we've said many times before, it's just sales blurb. They will die in that mix whatever their size, large or small, the result will be the same. Can't tell what the planter/s look like size wise in relation to the plants or whether it's one big planter, but whichever, there's way too much unused 'peaty' type compost. It will cause one of two things to happen...if you water thoroughly which they will need (but they also need to drain properly) it will stay wet and they'll rot. Failing that, the soil may become hydrophobic, you will think you are watering it but it will stay dry at the roots, as spray bottles don't water efficiently. Please do a search for a more suitable mix using the search box a the top, your plants will thank you in the end. Gill...See MoreAnybody?? Please ID this gorgeous plant ...soon if possible. TIA
Comments (13)Well, there are thousands of popular azalea varieties available to property owners in the south. Some are quite small and stay that way. Most people who live in azalea territory love to use them as foundation plants, too, rather than solitary specimens. They are inexpensive, mass produced evergreen shrubs. This particular variety is a fairly common one but darned if I can remember what it is. Of course, breeders introduce new cultivars to the retail market all the time, so who knows what it might be?...See More- 7 years ago
