Here's one from Jeri, my very creative friend. Sorry I don't have a before shot of her $10 yard sale find. This was a baby changing table she antiqued and added marble tiles to the top. She spray painted and then instead of using a tinted glaze to do the antiquing, she mixed a tube of artist's oil paint with a little mineral spirits.
I used the same method to paint this console table from GoodWill. All for around $12.

Here's Jeri's next project. Can't wait to see what she makes of these estate sale chairs. I think she's got her work cut out for her!

After: recovered vinyl on chairs with striped and flower fabric, stained top walnut, and painted legs and chairs with BM Danville Tan.

Comments (24)Thanks for all the pictures! Oceanna, I have been watching CL but have been woefully unimpressed with most of the listings I've seen. I do keep checking, though. Your upholsterer did a beautiful job recovering and repadding that chair! Sallymo, you're right that we won't be placing our sofa against a bright green wall--primarily because it'll be floating facing the fireplace, due to the open design of our floorplan. However, the picture of the one in your shop is absolutely gorgeous! If we were situated remotely close to you (doubtful) I'd consider that for in our study/office/library. For paint, we're looking at putting something along the lines of Flowering Herbs on the walls down the road. I just love Zuzu's inspiration picture, as I know many of you do. :-) Buddyrose, your sofa looks so nice with your artwork! Diydevon, yours are lovely too. I do like the picture from your old house with the pretty green walls. Amysrq, yours is lovely too! Green walls definitely let the red sofa make a statement, and it is a beautiful one. The only complaint I have had is there was something very sharp on the bottom of it that left a deep, thin scratch on my new wood floor as the fridge was pushed into position. Grrr! But we covered the scratch with a wax pen so it's all fine now. The icemaker seems efficient, the refrigerator layout is flexible, its temperature runs true (I keep a fridge thermometer in there) and it feels spacious. The outside finish polishes nicely. The seller's family called this antique the 'Throne chair'. CL - $25.00.

My husband and I just retrofitted an old dresser into a vanity. Pardon the unfinished trim in the bathroom, it is still a work in progress.

Not furniture, but I did redo my light fixture. Bought it at a big box store, but didn't like the shade. It blocked the view of any picture on the wall, and that bugged me. So I took off the shade. Then it looked too plain, so I climbed up on my dining room table, and hot glued rope around the middle! My husband thought I was crazy at first, but he loves the result! I also like the shadows it makes on the ceiling and walls now.
