Acorn squashes mature much earlier and have much shorter vines that most winter squashes. The acorn squashes I have grown have been more like zucchini plants than real vines. They don't keep for as long as other winter squashes like hubbard, butternut, buttercup, pink banana, etc, etc, etc. They all have different vine lengths and you'll have to research to find them out. Ten feet or more in each direction is not unusual. Squashes, melons and cucumbers send down a deep tap root, and have extensive roots off of that. Dig quite a large hole, like 2 or three feet wide and 18 or 24 inches deep for each plant. Refill the hole with the excavated soil, compost and other slow organic fertilizers. Let the roots grow throughout this zone of fertility. Water deeply to encourage those roots to explore. If your plants are happy below ground, it will pay dividends above.

I don't have extensive experience, but I've found that keeping them in pots for two years works well. I have tried planting out the first year and germinating directly in the ground, but tend to lose more that way. I do repot after the first year to accommodate root growth (white oaks like tall pots). By the second year, I find they're tough enough to fend well on their own without too much care. I still cage them and weed regularly. White oak seedlings are so beautiful, I actually like having them indoors over winter, but if you prefer to bury the pots outside, they'll do fine too. I would love to raise a few every year, but I run out of choice spots to plant them in.

I agree: probably from years of wear and tear. I will never own a blender with a plastic carafe. I don't know why, but every one I've ever owned is glass. I shouldn't say "every one" because in 40 years I've owned exactly 2 and that's because I broke the carafe on the first one when I dropped it.... ;) Yeah, plastic is better in those cases. But most brands do have replacement parts. Look your up and you'll probably find a new one.

Sea Sea - are your photos JPG format or HEIC? I've had iPhones for 8 years and my photos were always saved in a JPG format . Then in one of their updates Apple switched from JPG to HEIC - which was some kind of High Efficiency Image File format. Initially I didn't have any problems with sharing them or uploading them. But last summer several people told me that they couldn't open my photos. So I went into my phone settings and switched back to JPG - that solved my problems. And when I got my iPhone 12 Pro I made sure the photos were saved in JPG. Except I now have 3 years of photos in the HEIC format - and I need to figure out an easy way to convert them. Maire
