36 x 24' vanity in 6 x 6' powder room w/toilet--too tight?
Comments (11)threeapples--I'll see if I can make it over to my Mom's house today and snap a pic of her powder room for you. Hers is set up like layout 1. You really do not see the toilet-part of that is that it is tucked near the wall and for the most part out of direct line of sight. The other part is her sink presentation is stunning & a show stopper when you open the door. I think a photo of a similar layout will help. Positioning the toilet the other direction will make it more difficult to get to the front of the toilet so that would be a no-go for me--see layout below of that scenario. Layout 1 is with Kallista Sink, Layout 2 is with 30" Vanity: Just a question--the layouts show that you can easily do the Kallista console sink, so why not go that route since that's the one you really want? Also, I saw you can just order the legs of the sink--if the width still bothers you, why not just order the legs & have a stone fabricator take care of the top & sink for you? As far as the other vanity goes, I like it and think it will work (but still like Kallista better). I'm not sure about the brass hardware. I'd have to get a sample of the antique brass and put it up against that stain to see how it looked. With a hammered silver sink (which I think would be stunning), I'd really have to think long & hard about the brass... I've also posted a layout of the 30" vanity for you to see the difference (or lack thereof--you're only talking 3" savings on each side))....See MorePictures of 6x6 tile in tub/shower combo
Comments (24)Vix! I'm sorry I'm such a jerk - I never posted those pics. Right after those messages I started a new job and things have been absolutely crazy around here. This is the first time I've looked at the forums since then. Did you install the tiles yet? I can't take any pictures now because DH has the camera. I've been waiting to post pics because we still haven't put up the window treatment or the mirror that PB sent me with no mounting hardware and has since been on backorder (arrgh - finally got fed up and bought one from RH this AM). Anyway, will try to post pics soon!...See MoreSmall Bath Reno, 90% Done (Semi-Vintage; ~6x11; 6x6 Running Bond)
Comments (25)Bluekitobsessed, Na_praha, Lauren, and KGW -- Many thanks! Trust me, not every detail is perfect and it took me some time to deal with letting go. [Which I've yet to master, actually.] Lauren -- I do love that shelf AND its price but we don't have much room between tile and mirror, so I will probably file that away for Upstairs Bath. We have the 20w x 10h x 6d cubby to the right of the sink, so *so far* we've been ok. Na_praha -- With single pane windows in the house I always have leaded glass window/door/sidelight envy. Hence my taking liberties with this bath since it wasn't a purist reno anyway! And thanks re the paint color. Since I didn't want a THIRD aqua-in-some-variation room, I swear I tried a zillion colors. But I realized I wanted a shade that blended with the unlighted sconce shade color, so I mixed something up and had Miller recreate. BTW, know what you mean about greys -- thought long and hard before doing a stairwell/upper hall in a cool grey, but skylight + window + fir = not too grim, so: MS KGW! Have missed seeing you around and was gonna send you a personal update, truly. Do NOT know how you got through a problematic reno being increasingly pregnant as I was losing it, esp over the [string of expletives deleted, ha] stuff that went wrong with terrazzo base and windows. I think you get a pass for lack of progress given what you endured PLUS given that you and your DH are new parents! And as much as the soapstone sounds delightful, if you can shrug your shoulders and learn to love the black granite it may be a much better use of your time and energy. Keep us posted!...See MoreHuge rose needed, zone 5 cane hardy, grows to 6x6 or more
Comments (23)Yes, it's the same rose. The year I bought my two I think it was listed as 2.5 feet or something odd. HMF says 3-6 feet, but used to say only 3, I think. But funniest is HMF says Ascot grows up to 18 inches wide--mine is about 7 feet. It's a good thing I just happened to plant the one in the photo in a place with lots of room, but I have had to remove a lavender, dianthus, and will remove another big lavender this spring to make way. It's currently duking it out with a huge snowball bush. Who will win? Diane Ascot in 2013--see how far away the snowball is? The rose is touching it now. The lavender on the right is gone and other will soon be gone; it's being crushed....See MoreSharon Perez
