Wednesday's Wonderous, Whacky, and Whopper Sized Blooms

While the cool temps made it a pleasure to work in the gardens this morning, it made for some delayed bloom openings.

Remember that seedling I got from Dan Trimmer a couple of years ago? He finally introduced it this year as Summer Celebration. The three blooms were bright and very large today - just over 7 inches.

Amethyst Prism had two humongous blooms today too. These guys were in the 9 inch range. It's too bad they only have 25 inch scapes to hold those big blooms. They are registered as having 37 inch scapes.

Red Edition with an extra petal, and extra sepal, and some serious ruffling.

Gilded Glory with its ffo

Janet and Bill ffo - Who knew this one would look so much like Happy Happy? I think I like Happy Happy better.

Hoochie Coochie Man ffo

Sacred Ground ffo

Empire of Desire and Sweet Prairie Wind. I took this photo to show how well-budded Sweet Prairie Wind is this time.

Incandescent trio - Nice blooms on midget sized scapes.
