Sliding closet doors
Comments (4)well, debbie, welcome to our forum and hello from Georgia too! Sounds like that set of bamboo closet doors could be salvaged and made into a room divider, a dressing screen, a screen to use against an unsightly wall (I have one of those walls in my son's old room) that wall is covered by an old wicker screen i bought at a yard sale for $5.00.... Woooooo, I got so excited about your bamboo doors, I forgot to ask "Where are you in Geogia....I'm so northwest georgia...i can shop in Chattanooga and Cleveland only need to travel basically the same distance to either one of them! Send us a pic of whatever you do with the bamboo doors!...See MoreNeeding a curtain rod that's at least 17 feet long
Comments (12)Hi Cook, I purchased a custom rod from Paso Robles a few years ago. Shipping is very expensive, but we live on the other side of the country. I wanted this rod for our dining room, but because of the depth and height of our crown moulding, the support brackets did not fit. Luckily, we were able to use the rod in our son's room. I cannot believe that you would only need one center support for a pole that long. Ours has one center support---and needs it. It is about 12 feet long, and I would think a longer pole would need more support. My advice is to order first one of the supports to make sure it will fit and the curtains will not hang down too low. The way our support is forged, the pole actually hangs down 4" below it. Add an inch or two for rings, and depending upon your ceiling height you may not be able to use the pole, the curtains, and/or open the doors. If you order a support you can at least see how they attach and where the pole will hang. Best of luck--- the poles are excellently crafted and the guy who makes them is really nice....See Moresliding patio door blinds/curtains/what??!!
Comments (7)Drapes for sliders have been a genuine pain for me. For one, it would be best to have a single wide panel. These are not readily available in good variety. So I have a pair of panels that both draw to the left. They are pinch pleats hung on a traverse rod with rings, and the stack back is 42"!!!. Do you have that much wall space on the stationary side of your slider? If not, you will be blocking the light even when the drapes are open. If you don't get the blinds will you be forced into a decorating decision due to the need for privacy or a dislike of black glass at night? I'd rather not be forced into choosing fabric before I'm ready. I'd get the blinds. Also, I like to layer windows, but it's hard to layer a sliding glass door. With the built-in blinds you have a built-in first layer. You didn't ask, but if I had a choice between french doors and a sliding doors I'd take the french door in a heartbeat. A center opening is so much easier to work with, and you can attach sheers or blinds directly to the doors, which really opens up the options....See MoreHow can you fake a 22' long curtain rod?
Comments (8)I once used PVC pipe then painted it gold and used a support in the middle, they also make brackets that you can't see, sort of like an elbow bracket that the rod sits on and screws in underneath the rod and to the wall. PVC comes in different sizes, I don't remember now but I think this was 3 in. diameter pipe. Home Depot. It was light weight and you can get it in any length. I glued on the finials. You can use a ball or something on the end something lightweight and either paint it or wood faux finish them. Sorry for the poor quality picture.
