I went insane last year with thousands of cucumber beetles - they particularly liked a weed that grew near my garden but also ate my cukes and potatoes. The cukes all got the wilt and died as did the squash. So I went to war. Sprayed the entire area of the garden and 100 feet around the edges with beneficial nematodes that supposedly kill the over wintering cucumber beetles. Also used milky spore to kill the japanese beetles. So far so good this year - only an occasional cucumber beetle - maybe 5 that I've picked off the potatoes. I sprayed the potatoes with soap and pyrethrin. I've covered the Diva Cucumbers with agribon as well. Have seen only a single japanese beetle. It should be time for the second generation of cucumber beetles and we'll see what happens. I'm waiting for the Mexican Bean beetles - They haven't arrived yet but will use microscopic wasps which worked well the past two seasons.

Cuke is not houseplant. The timing is totally wrong. It is not worth the trouble to grow it this way. Search web on growing the cukes...

Unless you need the container for a fall crop you're better off just crossing your fingers and hoping the other makes it. At this point the plant has shared proximity, soil, and water too much to make transplanting it worthwhile. You should segregate the infected container from your other plants to keep them from brushing up on one another. You're going to want to change out the water, too. At the end of season wash/wipe out your container with a 1-part-bleach + 9-parts-water solution (wash the water holding part of the container now if possible). You're going to want to get rid of the soil + plants after they're "done". It's one that can spread through water/soil/litter of leftover plant material as well as finding hosts in over-saturated soils. G'luck.

If what you have is really BW then the pathogenic bacteria is systemic and in the fruit as well. I wouldn't eat them but it is your choice. If you have researched BW then you know there is an easy test you can do to determine if that is really what it is. Squash plants can be affected by it but the odds heavily favor one of the more common squash problems instead. If either plant recovers after watering or when "out of the sun" then it isn't BW. Dave
