Do you have Hafele blind corner pull outs?
Comments (9)List for Magic Corner 2 mechanism is 1530 to 1530, stores 1080 sq ins- don't put a drawer above it, not the best thing for feild install. A better choice is the Hafele Lemans units- list $870- stores either 884" or 1057 (the one that takes the same wall space as the MC 2- do NOT get the smallest one unless you have no choice) Easier to use with aging back, more flexible storage, can still have a drawer, can be feild installed easily. You have to watch the direction that they swing out if near a range. There is a limiter that can keep it from hitting a range if it must be placed there. An alternative are the Rev-A-Shelf half moon pullouts- Plastic ones list at $272, Wood 441. Again don't get the smallest, storage is less than Lemans but they pull out in a different direction. Lemans is my first choice for blinds BUT final determination is made based on door opening and direction of swing/clearanc, and storage requirements. I disagree that a super susan is the most efficient- depends on the layout. When doing a susan, if I'm doing either frameless or inset I always use a Suzi Q- which has a slightly higher sq in than typical pie cut super susan but is easier to use.(Suzi Q is NOT field install ever)...See MoreBlind corner pull out
Comments (30)I'm on the fence on whether to put a BC pull out in our new build. My current blind corner houses some rarely used things. I think the key is putting things there that have a specific purpose so it doesn't matter if you forget about them. In other words, the items will "tell you" when they're needed. When the time arises to use one of your blind corner items then you'll know. I've got my chafing dish, a huge roaster pan, a big tupperware cake transporter, punch bowl and a couple of other biggies all with specific purposes. If I put things like pretty trays or serving dishes back there then I might forget about them and never use them. On the other hand, when the need arises for the punch bowl, chafing dish, etc then I know right where it is.... nothing is back there that I have to remember to use..... if that makes any sense! I'm wondering in the new build if I'd be more irked by my big things not fitting in a pull out unit than having the occasional inconvenience of having to fish back there for something a couple of times a year....See MoreCalling Hafele Magic Corner or LeMans pullout owners!
Comments (10)honeychurch...interesting. My KD had the exact opposite experience. She said she discourages her clients from using blind corner pullouts b/c she's had so many complaints about them. They don't hold up well over time and when something falls off you have to literally crawl inside the cabinet to retrieve the fallen item b/f you can close the cabinet. Lazy/super susans, OTOH, rarely have issues, especially if your cabinetmaker can make one that has the back/side walls closely follow the contour of the round shelves. That's what we had in our old kitchen. Our lazy susan was the only cabinet in our 13-year old kitchen that worked as well at demolition as it did when we moved in...flawlessly! Nothing ever fell off b/c there was no room to fall off and the mechanism worked smoothly...and we stored relatively heavy items in our lazy susan...all our pots & pans, etc. We also had the one w/the door attached to the shelves so it rotated inside the susan which meant no doors banging against adjacent cabinetry. As with anything else, of course, the quality of your cabinetmaker's hardware will make a big difference...whether it's a lazy/super susan or a blind corner pullout. Hafele, from what I've heard, makes good hardware, so I suspect either one will work well enough....See MoreHafele vs Rev-a-shelf vs ???
Comments (14)Sorry, suzanne, I was posting at the same time as you. I am building a new house. So, all new cabinets. However, in my experience, when you order cabinets "with pull outs", they slap in 3rd party hardware. That's what happened when I put in the current cabinets. I thought I was buying Kitchen Craft cabinets, and they came with pull outs, the same way it comes with drawers, or hinges. But the local supplier decided they didn't like Kitchen Craft's hardware, and bought it from RAS. I keep thinking, how bad is KC hardware if THIS is an improvement??? I am not going with Kitchen Craft again. But when I asked what pull-outs were available with potential cabinet lines, the KD said I could get whatever I wanted from a 3rd party supplier. And I TRIED looking at volume, and there just wasn't any alternatives to the garbage I have now....See Morecpartist
