The Maid of the Mist-Niagara Falls (pic heavy)
Comments (18)The 1st time DH and I were there was on our Honeymoon, almost 54 years ago...We did all the tourist things and loved every minute of it...Years later, we went back and while buying post cards, found one that had our picture on it, taken at the big clock, on the Canadian side...At that time, they didn't ask if they could use your pictures...Quite a nice surprise and thrill to know, "we could have been sent all over the world"... We've been to the Falls so many times, taking our kids and the grands and each time it's exciting........See MoreSome more blooms...
Comments (15)Irisgal... I'm not sure if that PARTY HARDY is the same rose or not. My SWIRLING ORANGE almost died last yr, and I'm waiting for it to recover and bloom so I can compare. There is a possibility they could be the same. They both seem to have that weird serrated edge and semi-ruffled look. Color is similar too. Will compare when SO finally blooms again! Towanda... I stick my cuttings into (usually) a one gallon pot of regular potting soil. I used to put a 2litre bottle with the bottom cut off and the lid removed over them, but I've been trying to do taller cuttings, so instead I was bagging the whole pot up inside a Hefty 2.5gal zip-lock baggie. I don't know what the trick is to get them to root better. Oh... I just got some Clonex rooting gel that's supposed to work better than the regular rooting hormones. Didn't work on all the cuttings I tried tho....See MoreHow much sun for Rainbow’s End?
Comments (9)welcome to the forum... if you are going to hang around.. plz go back to you member's page.. and add your location.. so it shows in every post ... thx .. sun in GA is not the same in MN ... so it is imperative ... as noted above.. to know where you are ... hosta are only shade tolerant ... and can actually be more vigorous in sun ... but they can end up looking rather ratty by the end of summer ...and even though they get ugly.. they end up bigger next year.. because of the increased photosynthesis .... to avoid that ... the general rule .. is to avoid sun in the heat of the day .. hosta actually sweat ... transpire ... lose water ....so we dont want them.. on a daily basis.. running out of water.. during the heat of the day ... and so we try to avoid such ... with as much sun all the rest of the day ... if they do run low on water.. they get all crispy ... aka.. ugly ... the most important ones to avoid hot sun ... are the plants with white tissue.. as that is the tissue that is least likely to tolerate such ... all that said.. just plop it in the ground.. anywhere you want .. and if it gets ratty in late summer .. just move the darn thing for next year .. and if you feel it necessary.. discipline it with a few days on the driveway with little or no soil .. and then replant it ... it wont care .. and it will forever after know who exactly is in charge in your garden ... ken ps: again .. depending where you are .... july and august may or may not be the best time to be planting.. depending on how much after care you can provide ... there would be no harm in holding the pot until sept .... and planting them ... but this is more of a volume thing.. both in terms of number of plants and size of garden ... the idea that you might lose track of some .. and not provide the requisite water needed ... you should be able to focus on one plant ......See MoreSome more blooms
