replacing otr microwave for 24" wide space
Comments (9)INFO FOR THOSE CONCERNED ABOUT CLEARANCE BETW, OTR BOTTOM + RANGETOP: Over the Range Microwaves and Advantiums: Over the range microwaves require a minimum 66" mounting height from floor to top of the micro. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 13"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. All current over the range microwaves can be installed over gas cooking products up to and including 5 burner stoves. As long as the 66" minimum from the floor to the top of the microwave is followed there will be no performance or warranty problem. This includes Advantium ovens and convection microwaves. Note: Over-the-range microwaves and Advantiums should not be installed above any range or cooktop that has a combined BTU rating over 60,000 BTUS, not including the oven/broiler BTUs....See MoreIs there a Microwave/Convection combo under 27' wide?
Comments (6)Very straightforward to use the convection or microwave. I do my plain everyday marinated chicken breasts in it and it's perfect. At lunch I make little pizza pockets and such for the kids. It's nice when I'm doing a fast meal like these not to have to heat up a big oven. I've not gone to the trouble to figure out the fancy combination functions, but separately the microwave and convection functions work beautifully....See MoreWarming Drawer Size - 24, 27, or 30?
Comments (10)Thank you all for your suggestions! This is very helpful. I mocked it up, and decided that I'd better go for the 30". Instead of dinner plates of food, I'll probably have 4-6 serving serving platters of food. We often cook dinner when convenient (early) and eat much later. Even if we cook just before dinner it always takes time to round everyone up from their various activities to sit down together. We try to eat together if we can. Then there's often a late straggler or two who end up eating a cold dinner (or re-heating in the microwave). I've never had a warming drawer so I am just daydreaming how we might be using it. I can't to actually try it out!! Thanks so much everyone!...See MoreMicrowave drawer vs. microwave on a shelf
Comments (27)I'll chime in here. I have had mine in use about 7 1/2 years. They were brand new when we started looking and planning and I had a hard time the the price tag. As it turned out, using the drawer solved a lot of layout issues so we paid the $6-700 it was then, realized it was our east expensive built-in appliance, Sharp makes the best microwave ovens, and we figured the cost should go down by the time we might have to replace it and worst case we could put a small shelf unit in the space. Well, the cost hasn't gone down, I'm sorry to say, but I am not looking to replace it either. When I do, it will be with another drawer. I was pleased with how well we liked using it, found it had settings I didn't know it had and they worked well for us, and the keep warm setting gives me a second warming drawer for the craziest of times (actually used both for Thanksgiving one year when one guest was over an hour late). The drawer opening is so much better than having to bend down to see the flat front of a shelf unit or to reach in under your counter. Not having to lift out a steaming dish, set it down, stir and lift it back is so much easier. I'm tall and have bad discs in my neck, so that matters to me more than our other family members, but I don't think they'd want to change either. I'm coming up on 8 years in and I'm not going back. Point well taken about the cost of a micro plus trim kit of a built-in version that may not need the trim kit. And the only appliance you might get for less is a DW if you go basic. For a better, quieter model, you'll be in the same price range....See Morejellytoast
