Looking for information on this Montgomery Ward Sectional Sofa
Comments (4)The styling on the arms is very common in that year. A set in an old Sears Catalog is very similar, has similar legs but is not as large. As you might know, you have a choice of more than one configuration when one chose sectional sets. The armless section was referred to as the 'bumper'. Many sets have an option of an armless chair set in the middle one could use to swing the arrangement into an "L" shape. You could have a set with no arms, or arm rests on both sides. Neat piece.......a blast from the past for me, as my folks had sectionals when I was little. The catalogue house could have contracted with any one of a number of manufacturers to have pieces made under the Montgomery Ward name. Sets like that cost about three hundred M/L for those two pieces and although it sounds cheap now, it wasn't then. That's a higher end set for catalogues....See Morehelp! first time furniture buyer, need leather sectional help
Comments (1)We are buying a leather couch too. I did a search on GardenWeb and found a great discussion, including brands, retailers, types of leather, and price. Try pasting this URL into your browser: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/furniture/msg0717043415826.html The subject line is "Quality Leather Sofa on Budget." The posts are from 2006, but there is some good information in there. Good luck!...See MoreSectional Sofas...a good idea? or don't go there?
Comments (39)Just to update, we finally ordered a sectional from Century. It is L shaped with a loveseat on one wall and a sofa length on the other. The good thing is that it is 43" deep so it should be very comfortable to lay on. We chose a chenille type fabric in a greenish tone. We started the room's decor off by picking 2 oriental rugs and pulling colors from that. The sofa comes with 7 throw pillows, so I chose 2 different fabrics for 4 of those. We'll see if it works or not when it comes in! On another note, once we started to choose decor, we realized the color on the walls was pukey and we had to get the painters back to change from blue to brown. I'm so glad we did that. It really warms up a basement room with no windows. The lighting is what made color selection so tricky. Also in there, we got a leather recliner from Hancock & Moore. And the really neat looking Wisteria Barn door coffee table. Funny thing is that when it arrived, it really did smell like a...barn door! Fortunately that smell has disapated....See MoreQuality sectional/sofa - brands to try?
Comments (12)After much debate between Century, Taylor King and Vanguard, we ended up with the Vanguard Envision. The deciding factors were mainly size and arm style, although comfort and fabric options also played a role. All three were nice to sit on but we preferred the sloped track arm that only Vanguard offered. The Century would have been our next choice but it was much larger, about 10" in each direction, and we felt it might overwhelm our space. We ordered it from Lexington Furniture, who beat local prices by over $1000. Total cost in a Grade 26 fabric (no decorative upgrades) was $5500. It arrived yesterday and we LOVE IT. Just need to repaint the room and get a new rug! :)...See Morehavingfun
