Do you have pets...that shed a white under coat? If so stick to a lighter color so you won't feel the need to sweep constantly....

First, I'd choose the ones where I like grain and texture. Only then I'd go to choose color. I know that with wood, no color will help me if I don't like the grain..

Texture is important too, make sure you like yours a lot. I have wood-like planks in the bathrooms right now-they are the comfiest ever. They also feel warm-really)) They are also very non-slippery. Big deal, especially in a heavily used space.

Some contrast between the floors and the cabinets usually looks nice, but I'd keep to as natural-toned wood tiles as possible(say, numbers 1 or 7)-I think it will be easier to live with in the long run. Depends of course what other floors you got next to your kitchen, and where your house is.

Here where I am -a very pale gray floor would signal a trendy choice that might get on your nerves within 5 years.

In other places, though, real pale gray wood might be much more common-and so the wood like tiles would read less trendy, more..wood:)

I agree with 1 or 3 although color is tricky as far as accuracy with photos and the screens they are viewed on. I'd put everything together though to see your cabinet finishes, flooring, and countertop. All need to work together so aren't really separate decisions.

You need to put 1 and 3 together with whatever countertop color you are thinking about in the other thread. They all go together. They aren't separate choices.

I like 1 and 3, although I prefer 1 over 3, just for the reason that it adds a bit of contrast between the cabinets and the floor. It's a mix of both the white cabinets and the wood cabinets. :)

My cabinets are close in shade to my floor, and while I love both, the more monochrome look isn't for everyone.

As suggested, I also would love to see a picture of both tiles, your cabinets and your counter together in one picture.

number 3 floor with either pebble or cosmopolitan white counter

possibly number 7 floor but would prefer generally more brown or wood look tones for the floor as opposed to the various shades of gray and putty and so forth.

practigal: I don't have any pets right now but hope to in a few years' time. I chose mostly lighter tiles for the opposite reason - I want to see where I drip or drop messes so I can clean them up right away. ;)

aprilneverends: I took your advice and narrowed down my choices to the two with the texture and/or grain I liked most. That ended up being #1 (I like the colour and the texture is quite nice) and #2 (I like the texture on this one the most and the grain is quite realistic looking but I don't really like the colour).

I'm also trying to avoid a very grey floor but it's REALLY hard to find any tiles in my area that look like real wood! The reclaimed/rustic look is all the rage here so that's what most of the tile stores carry.

cpartist, maries1120, homechef59 and wendy: I also love the warm tones in 1 and 3. I just learned that #3 is made in China, though, and I can feel that it's not very good quality. The texture and grain are also not very realistic. So unfortunately #3 is out. As I mentioned above, it's been IMPOSSIBLE to find many tiles in warm, realistic wood-like tones. These were the best I could find after visiting 8 stores!

alwaysonabudget: I love how your cabinets look with that floor! I've been waffling between the monochrome look or contrast. I still could go either way, especially after seeing your kitchen.

Right now, Alpine Mist is my fave and Bianco Drift is DH's fave. He and I both ended up liking tile #1 and #2 best because of their texture, grain and/or colour.

Hmm. I'd sleep on it. See what bugs you more/draws you more. Go with your intuition. Put it in different spots. Look at it in different lights-morning, day, artificial lighting. Stop looking at them for several hours-and then look some more.

In the end I chose well, I love it. I'd say I love it madly.

But to tell you the truth-if I picked something else, I'd probably like it too..)

Because most of all I loved some flooring that we ordered-and were told it was discontinued. I had to choose again. I was so upset!

Fast forward six years-I don't even remember what that first love of mine was..

either of these two floors would be good playing with the alpine mist.....better than bianco I think. Would the choice of a more patterned counter be met with cosmopolitan white...I think the graining might satisfy need for pattern but the lighter shading with cosmo white might be better. I'm not liking the bianco with either floor options. Of your combinations now, I would do alpine mist with floor tile one.

I tend to need lots of "mulling over" before I feel totally confident about any decision. I'm TKO right now so I know that, fast forward to next year, I won't even remember all this. herbflavor: I'm quietly pleased that you'd prefer Alpine Mist over Bianco Drift with thsee tiles. ;) I'm finding it hard to convince myself to go with Bianco Drift. Cosmopolitan White is gorgeous. I like how bright the white in it is, and how it has some pattern to it rather than just a flat white. More mulling over to do... not easy...

Hi all, so I'm most likely going to choose #2. It's a tile from Daltile's Saddle Brook line, made in the US. Anyone know about the quality of Daltiles? The sample I got has lots of little chips around the edges. Not sure if it's because it's a well-used sample that's been bumped around a lot or if it's a quality issue. Don't want to end up with a tile that chips really easily.
