Help w/ exterior house & door color(s)
Comments (7)I would NOT add faux stone to your home. Painting the blue out with a darker gray or even a sage color would enhance your home. Do consider either painting your garage doors the same color as the new siding color you choose. Or go in the opposite direction and add the cedar look garage doors to coordinate with the cedar on your future (very lovely) home....See MoreHelp me choose new home exterior door colours please :)
Comments (8)The advice I have seen would be similar to this: the garage should not be the focal point but rather, should blend in. So you would select a color that would cause it to disappear against the siding material. The front door should be highlighted either with color or interesting features such as attractive planters, lighting, etc. Pretty sure most advice would call for selecting one “visually heavy” material (either brick or stone) but not both. And I believe they would recommend not having the stone facade run up toward the roof of just one area (because it’s a visually heavy or grounded material it should stay low to the ground). These are suggestions I have read over the past couple of months and learned from reading various books. I’m not a pro or a designer....See More1940s bungalow: please help me pick exterior colors ;)
Comments (16)Thanks everyone for the great tips. I'll drop the red trim idea. FWIW, here's an old picture before we repainted (pardon the car in the front, we'd just bought a Prius. Matches the trim of the house, lol). FWIW, I hated that bright red trim, though at Xmas the door looked pretty with a wreath. Brown Dog thanks for all the tips. (on the mock up, I ran out of time. I actually am supposed to be doing something else right now, now getting sucked into Houzz! ;) Thanks for the point of all the design elements fitting together. That's good advice. BTW, yes my gardening style is "controlled chaos." In that shot, the sweet peas were running a muck. ;) Another question: I am keeping these original windows but in the back, adding Marvin Ultimate (wood interior, alum exterior). The windows will be trimmed out to match the front. What color should I choose for the aluminum cladding in back/ I'm considering Coconut Cream, but there is Stone White or another ivory, Sierra White. thanks! https://www.marvin.com/our-products/options/exterior-finishes...See Morethought on exterior paint and trim color(s) please
Comments (6)I think your choices sound nice, too. Snowbound should look brighter on the exterior but not too bright. FWIW, this link shows several nice grays with the final choice being Mindful Gray. https://www.addicted2decorating.com/six-inspiring-house-exteriors-and-my-potentially-shocking-final-house-color-choice.html...See Moretorreykm
