quick question about bathroom tile
Comments (30)My first glance didn't see the border as "too much", until it was focused on. Then it did seem a bit large. I would live with this for a while and add details as others mentioned. You could play with the tile using contact paper to change tile size, add black trim ect. But even the inspiration pics, there are things I would change. Final thoughts are the pattern is is a bit large and yes to wider black trim. A half round black on top of the upper tiles would work as a detail and easy to install. Not sure painting tiles is the answer. Love the BW ticking shower curtain shown. I just finished my kitchen with BW tile and bead board to bring back the feeling of my little 50s house. It is great to know others are around that have some comfort with this style....See MoreWall tile help in the bathroom please. Any input is appreciated.
Comments (7)Will your tile be installed floor to ceiling? If that is the case, I like the softer, warmer color on the right that is less busy to the eye. It is also reminds me of the tile I chose for my bathroom, which has not yet been installed. Here's mine: Wall Floor Accent However, I like the tile on the left too. I don't think you can go wrong with either one :)...See MoreNew Construction Question - We don't like our bathroom tiles.
Comments (10)If you're going to remove it, the sooner the better. The longer it sits, the stronger the bond between the tile and the backer board. You'll eat the cost of the demo. Shouldn't be too bad. If it's removed now, it's likely the backer board on the floor will not need significant repair. Depends on which backer board was used. Tile can be cleaved off of some quite nicely. With others, you might get some divoting. Then you're back to square one. The cost of a new tile installation: New tile, thinset, grout, etc. The sooner you act, the better the outcome. Before you start to tear things out, consider the grout you are going to use. A basic portland cement based grout, yes, it may need maintenance. Some of the "newer" single component grouts (FusionPro or an equivalent) may perform better. Your installer should be able to guide you. Upgrading to a better grout may be worth it versus the process of going through a retile. Good luck....See MoreHelp with bathroom remodel - BATHROOM question
Comments (21)We renovated recently and removed an old cast iron tub that had been reglazed badly several times - it was tough for our plumbing team to find someone to cut it up and get it down the narrow stairs.. we opted for an acrylic model for our replacement, I absolutely love old things too but definitely appreciate the new pipes that our team was able to run to the new bath as well as a nice level subfloor 😅...See MoreRelated Professionals
