I don't know much - rephrase: I know nothing about Acacia podalyriifolia but out of curiosity I did some googling & I'd say that your specimen isn't A. podalyriifolia. The leaves of A. podalyriifolia are oval in shape whereas the leaves in your photo are more elliptical. Your leaves are rather grey-green in colour compared with the greener leaves of A. podalyriifolia although colours in photos can be deceptive.
Perhaps someone from the Brisbane area could comment. Otherwise you could contact the environment officer with the Brisbane Council, a local landcare/environment group or a native plant nursery, particularly one selling indigenous species.
